Xoloitzcuintle Joven - (show·low·itz-Qeent·ly) Xolo’s Joven is created by utilizing 80% Blanco, 10% Reposado, and 10% Anejo. This offering is presented at 48%ABV - 96 Proof in a 1 liter bottle for just a hair under one hundred dollars. For comparison sake a 750ml bottle would cost around seventy four dollars. Both are great prices. The hue is a pale golden straw with a high transparency. While the color is light the nose is slightly darker. There are several aromatic notes that appear first. It’s a combination of agave, green peppers, fresh jalapeños, sage / oregeno, faint citrus rind and white oak. Behind that initial barrage is some light natural sweetness and minerality. On the palate I first get a fresh pop of agave. The proof helps to deliver a pleasant intensity of flavors. Riding on the agave backbone is a vegetal note of fresh jalapeños and sage. The minerality appears just before the white pepper that rolls into the spicy finish. The mouthfeel is peppery and viscous. That viscosity forces the flavors to linger. The more I sip the more I start to pickup on the American white oak barrel notes. There’s some light cinnamon and then a hint of bitter oak tannins. Overall the nose has a medium density that’s slightly savory. The taste is agave, vegetal and peppery. The finish is mildly spicy with a medium to long lasting. The pepper lingers the longest. I’m a fan of jovens and this one is very enjoyable. You can purchase Xolo direct from the website. Salud!

Xolo Joven offers an exciting tequila tasting experience with its unique blend of 80% Blanco, 10% Reposado, and 10% Anejo, at 48% ABV - 96 Proof. Priced just under $100 for a 1-liter bottle, it's a fantastic value. The tequila presents a pale golden straw hue coming from the blend. On the nose, you’ll be greeted with a complex bouquet featuring aromas of agave, green peppers, fresh jalapeños, thyme, sage, oregano, orange peel and subtle oak. On the palate, it delivers a fresh cooked agave flavor, supported by a vegetal note of jalapeños and bell pepper showcasing a peppery mouthfeel. The intensity of flavors is well-balanced, with a lingering finish of fruity notes like pear, pineapple and sweet citrus along anise and white pepper notes. The astringent mouthfeel allows the flavors to linger, revealing hints of barrel notes, including light cinnamon and bitter oak tannins. Xolo Joven stands out as an excellent example of Joven tequila, offering great value for its quality.

Xolo XA is aged for 5 years in American Oak barrels in the Highlands of Jalisco at Hacienda Capellania NOM1545. All Xolo expressions come in at 46% ABV / 92 proof in a 1-liter bottle. Xolo is meant to be shared. Let’s dig in. - Like many of the aged Highland tequilas, I get a lot of fruit on the nose. There’s a mix of peaches, cherries, plums, and nectarines (stone fruits). I also detect cooked agave, light brown sugar, and some slight barrel spices. Overall it’s a very balanced aroma with the fruit being the most prevalent note. — I taste the buttery cooked agave and some barrel notes immediately. There’s spice that hits right away thanks to the 92 proof. The barrel notes are dark and dense. There are hints of molasses, black cherries, raw honey, figs, leather, and black pepper. There’s a dry tannic quality that I commonly get from tequilas that are aged in American oak barrels (ex-bourbon). The higher proof helps to deliver a pleasant density of flavors and a nice long finish. The sweetness and proof interacts nicely. It’s a very pleasant sipper. - Overall the nose is fruity and juicy while the taste is denser and darker with a little bit of alcohol proof that delivers some spiciness. This is an excellent Highland XA! Great job Ernesto!
