I must be in the minority here but 1440 is really good. Beautiful nose and palate. I like this a lot.

nice nose sweet and okay palate

Nose: Right off the bat, you get spicy rye and black pepper, backed by some oak and just a hint of agave. Honestly, it’s way more subdued than I expected - especially compared to something like the GTS expression. Not as punchy, definitely more laid back. Palate & Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is thick and satisfying. It really coats the palate. Sweet notes take the lead here, orange marmalade, brown sugar with a little pepper on the back end. There’s not a ton of agave presence, but the spicy rye influence comes through. It’s tasty, albeit a bit muted, and like the other Corazon Expressions I have tried in this lineup, feels more like an agave experiment than a true tequila. Finish: Pretty underwhelming. It wraps up quickly with some vanilla and that same burnt sugar, but not much else. You’ll be looking for more that just isn’t there. Final Thoughts: This isn’t really for the tequila traditionalist. But if you’re into unique pours or thinking cocktail applications, this could make a killer Manhattan. Just don’t expect a classic tequila experience - because it’s not that.

Nose: Soft and inviting at first, the nose leans heavily into dessert territory - think Almond Joy candy bar and a faint buttery pastry note. There’s a whisper of florals in the background, like dried chamomile or jasmine, but any agave brightness is muted. A hint of peppery spice adds some lift, but the barrel character dominates. Palate & Mouthfeel: The palate opens with warm, rounded flavors - burnt sugar, toffee, and a touch of pear. A vanilla custard layer sits underneath, while a subdued citrus oil note gives a flicker of acidity. The peppery spice intensifies mid-palate, helping to rein in the sweetness, but the agave presence remains hard to find. The texture is soft and velvety, more reminiscent of a dessert liqueur than a tequila. Finish: Lingering and gentle, the finish brings more of that creamy sweetness - crème caramel and spiced butter, with a late arrival of clove. It’s smooth and easygoing, but feels more like the tail end of a bourbon than a tequila, with the agave struggling to break through. Final Thoughts: While clearly crafted with care, this tequila feels more like a whiskey lover’s experiment than a celebration of agave. The time spent in ex-bourbon barrels has softened and sweetened the profile to the point where the spirit’s identity gets lost.

This Single Estate Añejo version was aged in a single E.H. Taylor bourbon barrel: Whose pour this is I think I know, It waits in amber’s warming glow, With notes that drift like autumn leaves, Of orange rind and oakwood sheaves. The caramel walks soft and slow, While pepper speaks in undertow. The whiskey whispers, aged and wise, Where citrus cuts and agave sighs. A breath of blossom, faint and fair, Still lingers gently in the air. And down it trails—a quiet grace, A finish long, with evening’s pace. The hearth is lit, the meal is through, A smoke curls up in twilight blue. For value found, and silence deep, This bottle earns its Costco keep.

EH Taylor barrel: The aroma opens with a bright medley of fruity notes—red apple skin and pear take the lead, rounded out by whiskey, orange citrus, cacao, and a faint touch of ethyl. Hints of butterscotch and cooked agave emerge subtly, adding warmth and sweetness. On the palate: cacao takes center stage, complemented by baked apple with warming spices and delicate pear. Whiskey and wood lend depth, while salted caramel, pepper, and vanilla create a gourmand profile that induced salivation. A soft floral note weaves throughout. The finish lingers beautifully, with a dry down of whiskey, pepper, and dried fruit. Fading notes of medicinal caramel—possibly from the wooden saturation—leave a gentle warmth, accented by wafts of apple on the breath. Altogether, this composition feels perfectly suited to the winter season, with a cinnamon spiciness and comforting richness that evoke the joy of holiday traditions. A taste for cozy moments by the fire.
