Tasted blind for TMM. Distinct strong aroma something like vinegar. Tart flavors that taste better than it smells. Long lingering finish.
TMM Blind Tasting: 2025 The aroma presents a strong briny tone upfront, followed by a vegetal mix reminiscent of oregano and olive, cut grass, a mild lactic quality, and a noticeable ethyl sharpness. On the palate, bold anise and peppermint lead the way, joined by cocoa and a continued lactic note. A subtle thread of vanilla emerges mid-palate, with a delicate fruity tone, peach-like, appearing softly at the back. The finish is light, with fading notes of peach and a gentle, spicy ethyl warmth that lingers briefly.
From TMM Blind Panel: On the nose: there’s a weird funk to it, doesn’t smell like agave at all, butter, olive, marshmallow but not sweet Flavor: heavy cinnamon and heat, butter, grass, but it’s just not pleasant. Doesn’t taste like it has additives, but doesn’t taste like tequila. Pallet is short. It just kind of falls away. Overall, I wouldn’t drink again. Doesn’t remind me of tequilas or agave.
Strong alcohol and funkiness in the aroma. No agave detected. It tastes, bitter and like it has additives.
Vegetal nose with some ethanol. A flood of flavor in the mouth with cinnamon red hots, roast agave, nice oily viscosity. This has a nice tingly finish with bitter undertones.
Madre desde siempre 48% Sample from junior zander Nose: Yeast/bread, hay, vegetal, some alcohol and a mild sweetness Palate: unami/mushroom, sweet/sugar, with some bitterness on the finish Overall: a little more barnyard hay then I prefer
Nose is a little off, vegetal, herbal, raw agave notes.
Aroma/Taste: The scent is dominated by petrichor minerality and wet cement, with underlying notes of cooked agave, lime, and cherry. On the palate, the taste features cooked agave, refreshing mint, and a noticeable white pepper heat on the tongue. Finish: The finish is sweet and relatively brief, but there's a subtle cheesy funk on the back end that I really enjoy. Overall: When tasted blind, this tequila stands out as very good. However, after sampling five tequilas in this blind tasting, I find that four of them are nearly identical.
