From the nose I thought this might have a chance. Then I tasted it. I think this just raised my blood sugar a hundred points. This is super sweet city. I don’t even like desserts this sweet. I cannot recommend this to anyone who wants to try tequila. This is not tequila no matter what the label might say.
Nose: agave/ VANILLA / pepper / caramel / pineapple/ orange / mint / black tea / nutmeg / honey / chocolate/ Taste: sugar - artificial sweetener/ vanilla/ cinnamon/ apple / pineapple/ melon / coconut/ banana/ orange / mint / nutmeg/ honey / chocolate / molasses Finish: smooth and very sweet throughout the whole taste / vanilla and artificial sweetener linger heavily/ low viscous mouthfeel / quick minty finish This anejo tastes good except the artificial sweetener and over the top vanilla. I like it, but it doesn’t taste like a tequila to me. It’s also just enjoyable and would appeal to people who want vanilla sweetness as heavy as a sugary cereal. Can’t say I didn’t like it, just that I don’t think of it as a tequila I’d drink often.
We sent six blanco tequilas to 28 members of the Tequila Matchmaker Tasting Panel to rate blind. Four of them are new to the market, and two of them are tequilas that have been around for a long time.
