Nose: sweet cooked agave / vanilla/ caramel/ earth / mineral/ banana/ apple / lime / tea / nutmeg/ molasses/ chocolate/ Taste: sweet cooked agave/ peppermint/ vanilla/ cinnamon/ citrus / apple/ grapefruit/ anise / tea / nutmeg / chocolate/ molasses/ cream soda Finish: medium viscosity mouthfeel and lingering sweet agave and pepper just keep hanging on to the palate….sweet and spicy nice harmony with a peppermint final bow on the last swallow This joven really packs some flavor at 46% abv. Such and easy sipper though the spicy notes are more prevalent on the last part of the taste which lingers. The sweet is not considerably balanced with the pepper but it’s not specifically unbalanced. It has a bit of a teeter totter effect. Very good and recommend this bottle.

Nice upgrade over the plata, nose & pallet have wayy more going on, agave, cinnamon/anise, herbal notes, some fruitiness, earthy, spices, just classic beautiful tequila.Definitely fills in gaps over the plata, an easy choice for me!

I’ve been known to add a little tequila to my homemade salsa. This would be the perfect tequila for it as it brings out so many of those traditional herbs and vegetables associated with a great salsa. On the nose I get jalapeño and bell peppers. It has an herbal nose but also throws in a little citrus such a lime and orange peel. The taste is also vegetal. With jalapeño and bell pepper. I do get some oak from the barrel but this is not a barrel bomb in the least. While it may be 10% Reposado and 10% Anejo, it isn’t highly influenced by those expressions. The ABV level brings out very nice sweet agave. Like the nose, it is herbal and has a mineral presence as well. By the way, the agave comes out in spades Very nice mouthfeel and finish. It does have a lingering alcohol note but is still bring out flavors throughout the finish. I like what I am tasting from this brand and I hear and even higher proof blanco will be out soon. As a Fuerte Fanatic, I am looking forward to this. The more I drink this the more I love it. This is fantastic juice

Xoloitzcuintle Joven - (show·low·itz-Qeent·ly) Xolo’s Joven is created by utilizing 80% Blanco, 10% Reposado, and 10% Anejo. This offering is presented at 48%ABV - 96 Proof in a 1 liter bottle for just a hair under one hundred dollars. For comparison sake a 750ml bottle would cost around seventy four dollars. Both are great prices. The hue is a pale golden straw with a high transparency. While the color is light the nose is slightly darker. There are several aromatic notes that appear first. It’s a combination of agave, green peppers, fresh jalapeños, sage / oregeno, faint citrus rind and white oak. Behind that initial barrage is some light natural sweetness and minerality. On the palate I first get a fresh pop of agave. The proof helps to deliver a pleasant intensity of flavors. Riding on the agave backbone is a vegetal note of fresh jalapeños and sage. The minerality appears just before the white pepper that rolls into the spicy finish. The mouthfeel is peppery and viscous. That viscosity forces the flavors to linger. The more I sip the more I start to pickup on the American white oak barrel notes. There’s some light cinnamon and then a hint of bitter oak tannins. Overall the nose has a medium density that’s slightly savory. The taste is agave, vegetal and peppery. The finish is mildly spicy with a medium to long lasting. The pepper lingers the longest. I’m a fan of jovens and this one is very enjoyable. You can purchase Xolo direct from the website. Salud!

Xolo Joven offers an exciting tequila tasting experience with its unique blend of 80% Blanco, 10% Reposado, and 10% Anejo, at 48% ABV - 96 Proof. Priced just under $100 for a 1-liter bottle, it's a fantastic value. The tequila presents a pale golden straw hue coming from the blend. On the nose, you’ll be greeted with a complex bouquet featuring aromas of agave, green peppers, fresh jalapeños, thyme, sage, oregano, orange peel and subtle oak. On the palate, it delivers a fresh cooked agave flavor, supported by a vegetal note of jalapeños and bell pepper showcasing a peppery mouthfeel. The intensity of flavors is well-balanced, with a lingering finish of fruity notes like pear, pineapple and sweet citrus along anise and white pepper notes. The astringent mouthfeel allows the flavors to linger, revealing hints of barrel notes, including light cinnamon and bitter oak tannins. Xolo Joven stands out as an excellent example of Joven tequila, offering great value for its quality.

Second favorite of the brand next to Xolo Reposado. Was fortunate enough to try the Joven at the distillery November ‘23 and has sold me on the concept of Jovens. Coming in a 1L bottle at slightly higher proof makes this one of the best values of the well made tequilas on the market.
