Sticking with the 2021 puntas. I feel 2021 has more flavor than 23

Seems awfully light in aroma and flavor. I may revisit and tweak scoring. EDIT: Original score was 85. I have updated the aroma, flavor, and finish scores. The description on the rear label, written by Remy, is beautiful, but in these first few pours, I'm only getting a fraction of the notes listed.

This has a matalactic funkiness on the nose. However it does not overshadow the cooked agave nose, and minerality. The taste involves cooked agave (baking spices), citrus like grilled pineapples , slight light butterscotch type sweetness deep within. This is a nice blonco.

I’m out the outlier here. I don’t love Puntas. The brine isn’t my favorite but still an authentic offering. subtle nose with sweetness on the palate. Lots of brine and a peppery finish.

Close to the 2021. The 106 proof is definitely evident. White and black pepper, sweet cooked agave and citrus note. Great nose and mouth feel

Downgrading the 2023 to a 93. Unlike many others, I prefer the original by a hair. They both have a different nose and taste. I love a well-made quality Blanco, especially high-proof.

Nose: Immersive green grassy scents, pine, alpine freshness and warm citrus notes. Much like setting foot into the agave receiving patio as freshly harvested piñas are being dumped and chopped. Initial aromas meet and mingle with the heady fragrance of nearby cooked agaves just finishing the cooling down stage. Alluring agave aromas seep into your senses and linger. Molasses, sweet potato, spicy pumpkin. Cinnamon and allspice. Marzipan and vanilla bean flan. Tidal pool brininess. Bright and brimming floral top notes. Orange blossoms, tropical frangipanis, cinnamon dusted jasmine. A whisper of spearmint and bitter almond. Woody rosemary, fennel and celery. Earthy, gritty minerals. Flavors: Ancho chiles and cracked black pepper. Savory salinity. Glazed candied yams. Salted butterscotch. Almonds. Green apple, charred pineapple, tangerine zest and green field agave. Dark roasted Italian espresso and toasted cocoa nibs bring trace bitter nuances, and act as anchoring base notes. Bright, buttery, sleek.

Cooked agave, bright citrus, fresh grapefruit, salinity; mouthfeel similar to white wine. Delicate palate, takes a bit to open up, but when it does this overproof Ocho rivals the very best tequilas. Outstanding.

Very unique on the palate, with a distinct mineral I will have to revisit to fully define. Smooth finish for an over-proofed spirit. One of the most unique tequilas I’ve sampled early in my tequila journey.

Pepper on the nose with citrus and agave to boot. Smooth, silky mouthfeel with even more citrus, agave and minerality on the palate. Super smooth finish. Simply outstanding.

Excellent as expected… drinks more like 90 proof than 106. It has a full-bodied creaminess to it that is lovely. Tasted next to Volans Still Strength; both excellent… the Volans is definitely more mineral and the Ocho sweeter with heavy pepper notes. I slightly prefer the Puntas. Glad I bought an extra bottle, this one is a gem.

Emanating with a captivating allure, the robust aroma unfolds with pronounced minerality reminiscent of wet concrete taking center stage. A delightful interplay of agave, grassiness, honey, invigorating mint, subtle alcohol, and notes of green citrus contribute to the complex and enticing olfactory profile. As the palate experiences the initial onslaught, an intriguing combination emerges. Anise, the essence of agave, and a refreshing sour grassiness intermingle with vegetal notes, creating a dynamic palate. The heat asserts itself, gripping the esophagus, while a swift and lively pepper bite enlivens the tongue. Concrete minerality persists, accompanied by a nuanced touch of brine, hints of pineapple, and a lingering essence of candied alcohol, resulting in a captivating and multifaceted taste experience. The culmination of this tasteful journey is found in the finish, characterized by a gradual fade of agave, leaving behind a refreshing sense of freshness. Subtle traces of honeysuckle delicately intertwine with the lingering soft minerality, imparting a nuanced and sophisticated conclusion to this delicious and uniquley curated expression.

Great nose. Tons of cooked agave. I get some green notes, not a lot of minerality. Taste is fantastic. Agave explosion. 106 proof worth of flavor but extremely pleasant. No burn or harshness, just a nice spice on the finish. I think my favorite part of this Blanco is the mouthfeel! Velvety smooth, hard to describe. Wonderful.

Fruit Forward with mild mineral flavor from the unique single estate. Best product from Ocho yet and tied for my 3rd best blanco with Volans Still strength. I compare to wine. This is like a French Cabernet Sauvignon vs Volans as a Napa cab. Bottles are numbered so worth collecting as at $80, it will easily double in value as 2023 sells out.

Comparing side-by-side to 2021 Ocho Puntas, this has similar notes but slightly more peppery. Both are heavenly.
