Wow. Just had a few samples at a tasting event but was blown away. Loads of flavor without too much punch. Agave, citrus, pepper, minerals… yum.
Upgraded even higher from my video review to a 93. This is one of the best Blanco High proofs ever made
Nose: sweet cooked agave, tropical fruit, fresh cut hay, mint, and earthiness Flavor: cooked agave, mint, fresh ripe fruit, raw almonds, earthy, and a nice creamy mouth feel Finish: long with sweet agave and moves to white pepper
Quite vegetal, much minerality, and alcohol intensity.
On the nose: Subtle cooked agave (a bit muted), vegetal, black pepper, citrus, minerality, briny, yeasty and some herbal (thyme and rosemary) nuances Taste: Caramelized agave (agave forward), grapefruit, orange peel, bittersweet, licorice, herbal notes at the beginning. Midway you get a sensation of minerality, brininess, olive, and clove/spices/cinnamon. The finish showed nuances of peppermint, acetone and yeast (sour apple cider/mosto from the fiber fermentation). Finish was astringent.
this brand is so good!!! really enjoyed the h.p. as well very well balanced, agave, pepper, cinnamon, minerality
Super delightful blend of bright fruity notes, tons of herbs, and deep agave sweetness - the flavors and sensations take me right to the front porch of El Pandillo. There is a really cool mouthfeel here, crisp yet full bodied at the same time with steely minerality on the finish. The agave in here is velvety and the way you feel after a glass, is the same. Another amazing addition to the Volans lineup, they get better every time.
One of the best high proofs I have tasted. Great mouth feel, creamy and delicious. Great spice and pepper notes with balanced sweet cooked agave
Nose: A full slap of fruity, spicy sweet agave. Green apples, lemon drops, white & green peppercorns. Cinnamon, mint and candied rosemary. Minerals and freshly clipped grass. Tinged with a slightly sour cider scent, and a playful tease of juicy fruit gum. Silky, sophisticated aromas. Flavors: Creamy, mouth filling sweet agave steals the show - simultaneously flirting with a punch of pepper and enticing salinity. A touch of almond paste marries with the fruit and spice. No ethanol ambush in store for you. Another masterfully made tequila from Felipe and Volans.
Aroma: sweet, cooked agave, black pepper, earthy, mineral, like the air just before rain, some light herbs. Taste: Similar to nose, but I didn't taste the herbs. The agave, pepper, and a briny minerality shine. Finish: A touch hot at first, but mellows after 15 min or so. Long finish, a little sweet, then the black pepper lingers. Overall: Just dynamite stuff. Pretty classic profile for 1579, but it all really sings.

LOT: B53N (06/09/23) This review was done blindly with: Siembra Valles Ancestral and G4 108. View: excellent tears that cling to the glass, corresponding to a 50º+ distillate. Completely transparent. Freshly served; Aroma: very expressive, strong, mineral, complex, herbal, black pepper. It stings a little on the nose. Extraordinary smell. Flavor: Delicious, first you get super sweet notes of the agave followed by herbaceousness and at the end an aftertaste of black pepper and very light and pleasant citrus astringency that lingers for several seconds. Minerality, piloncillo. Extremely well balanced, difficult to detect that it has more than 50 degrees. I let it oxygenate and rest for 25 minutes. Aroma: When it opens it gives me more herbal profiles, raw agave and black pepper, it is still spicy, it is still pleasant, it seems to me that the minerality now also gives me notes of copper, Taste: It is extraordinary, the first thing that appears on the tongue is how sweet it is, very herbal, very mineral, very well balanced, an aftertaste like orange oil, citrus but robust and pleasant. Cooked agave. You don't feel its high alcohol content at all, I'm not saying it's not there, but it's so well balanced that it doesn't seem like it.
Nose: Raw agave, alcohol, pepper, citrus, vanilla, mineral, grassy, and mint. Palate: Agave bomb, pepper, citrus, grassy, mineral, vegetal, good amount of heat! But I love high proof agave forward blancos! If you dont, don’t get still strength! Finish: agave, mineral, citrus and light vanilla lingers. Overall, great juice! If you love high proof blancos, it’s definitely a buy! Bought in Colorado Springs for $87.99
Good still strength with great aroma, but... the price is steep.
Nose: cooked agave, vegetal, pepper , slight brine , pepper , citrus Taste: cooked agave , pepper , brine slight No burn goes down smoothly ,
Lots of pepper on the nose. Cooked agave as well, but mainly pepper with subtle vegetal hints. Stings a bit too. Silky mouthfeel at first, but then a sudden punch of fire. Smokey pepper and agave that eventually gives way to hints of citrus and some earthy notes as well. Super long finish with a burn that hovers without losing its flavor. Very herbaceous. Damn, this bottle packs a punch. I’m curious to see how it opens up.
Such a flavor-bomb! The ONLY negative thing about this HP is the price and limited availability. My favorite HP’s are 1-Tapatio, 2-G4, 3-El Luchador, 4-Villa Lobos; this Volans is right there next to Tapatio & G4.
Initial smell was very clean with no traces of ethanol. Nose was fresh, vegetal, touch of mint, a little pine with Madera resemblance. Taste had lots of agave, light sweetness, some pepper and minerality, and the touch of Madera pine. Oily mouth feel, long finish with an initial mouth drying effect that improved with more sips. Would have liked to see the price more inline with the other 1579 HPs.
Strong peppery finish. Combined with agave favor makes it one of my favorites so far. Finding I like pepper finish in my tequilas.
Volans Still Strengh Balnco Lote 001 $99 USD @ Sip Tequila Overall: A Still Strengh that solidly belongs in an elite, small class. Love this offering from Volans slightly more than their 80-proof blanco. Aroma: Delicious, crisp, and inviting sweet cooked agave abound. Minerality of the rain water, white pepper, and delicate fruit and citrus notes float around. The nose is splendid. Taste: Rich, creamy cooked agave just sit on the tongue. Palm sugar sweetness and white pepper heat strike a glorious symmetry. Pear fruit, a light salinity, and slight floralness round out the tastes. The high proof really emboldens this spirit and creates a long lasting finish.
My #3 Blanco after Cascahuin Tahona Blanco and Fortaleza. I compare this more to wine than spirits. This is like a Napa Cab. Fruit forward with good complexity from the mineral character. More expensive than my top 2.
Buttery mouthfeel, sweet and minty agave, white pepper, anise. Wow, the finish is awesome as it lingers and delivers more flavors! Nice still strength!
Incredible mouth feel and smooth finish. dominant flavors of anise and simple sugar. The roasted agave and dissolved minerals meld into the body. A beautifully diverse expression from 1079.
Calm taste, calm on tongue and sprouts when taken. Amazing.

Bright agave with vegetal notes on nose, it’s a very nice nose. Hint of sweetness right as it hits the lips along with pepper. Super creamy palate with a lingering warm finish. Wow don’t think I’ve tried something this creamy. A very well done Blanco but price hurts it.
