Heavy wood/oak. Mango and tropical fruits. Creamy/silky texture, orange peel flavors, dehydrated citrus wheels. Finish is like a guayana roll. Delicious pour!

Barrel #1 Bottle #230 Nose: Leather, butterscotch, and oak. Fruity. Ripe berries (wild blackberries) and baked pineapple. Baking spices: cinnamon, cloves and allspice. Limestone minerality and potting soil. Flavors: A surprising ethanol and pepper blast - the aromas promised a smoother ride. (The aromas and nose were quite appealing.) Oily and silky texture in the mouth. A hint of maple and pineapple. It finishes with some lingering tannins on the back palate, as white pepper heat slowly abates.

This is currently my favorite Anejo. I got several bottles in Puerto Vallarta for $56 each, so my impression of the value is phenomenal. That said, I get that not everyone paid so little. I am by no means as experienced a taster as many on this platform, but I’ve been fortunate enough to sample many high end bottles including Los Abuelos Anejo, which currently holds the highest Anejo rating on the site. I gotta say, I like this stuff better. I don’t think I prize smoothness as highly as others, which is probably why I can rank this bottle so highly. Definitely personal preference at play. This bottle DEMANDS your attention. It slaps you in the face and then starts making out with you. I’ve tasted too many bottles that try to create a strong identity by ramping up flavors like oak or caramel. This bottle crafts an unforgettable identity around the agave - the truest expression of tequila in my book. The high proof ramps the experience up to 11 for me, but your mileage may vary if you prefer something with less burn.

Nose: sweet smell of agave and fruit, it’s amazing! Sweet cooked agave on the taste, cinnamon and baking spices. There’s some heat but is not bad. the finish is exellent, definitely long finish.
