Cosecha 2020 42% ABV Nose: Herbal and smokey with a sharp yellow mustard aroma. Green forest vegetation. Sweet and slightly floral. Flavor: Pepper pungency, with medium hot cinnamon. The pepper heat lingers at the back of the throat. Some viscosity and salinity. Oodles of simple sweetness that is accompanied by a bitter note. The smokey flavors do not dominate. Something slightly medicinal. Finish: Short, sweet and simple. I had hoped for more with the Tahona. No wow factor.

Lote L PH7330321, bottled on 27-02-2021. Aroma: cooked agave, smoky, sweet mineral notes, citrus, slightly acidic, good sweet & sour & smoky balance. Palate: lightly smoky cooked agave, mineral, citrus, slightly acidic, smokiness is light therefore doesn’t overpower other aromas & flavors, through retronasal I can smell light green pickle notes. Finish is medium to long, smoky cooked agave and citrus notes persist.

I have to be honest. This hardly tastes like tequila. It's more on the Mezcal side. Bought it because none of the other Cava de Oro had dissapointed me before. Yes they are sweet. Yes they contain additives. But it's fine for a dessert every now and then. But this Plata tahona I can't even put on a margarita. It's been hard to finish.
