Another great CC product Did a side by side comparison of Azul R 46 & Chato R 46, both have that tertiary aroma CC fingerprint that develops during the aging process. As for profiles, Chato wins for the evolution on the aroma trilemma while nosing it.

Lot: EK?-09 U2, agave field: Verde Nace (800 masl), rested for 9 months in American oak barrels, recently acquired, tasted on 4-13-24. Color: very light yellow. Aroma: cooked agave, light chili sensation, slightly earthy, hint of vanilla, intense agave fibers, creamy & buttery, a hint of pickle, intense green vegetal note, acidity, after 20 minutes in the glass it becomes more earthy. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, slightly sour, cooked agave note is quite intense and clean on the palate, ends slightly dry. Finish is medium to medium long, cooked agave with green vegetal notes, hint of vanilla and earthy notes persist.

This bottle is incredible! A mouthful of different flavors that come in waves. Notes: Agave with a sweet blend of grapes Taste: Subtle agave front with a mezcal smokiness to it which then transcends to a grapevine. Fruity backend very smooth with no ethanol burn. Absolutely incredible journey with each sip! Finish: Slightly oily finish with nothing but white wine vibes Overall this bottle was one of my favorites of all times for a reposado. It’s different as you can appreciate a lighter chato flavor with a mash of fruit to follow. What an experience!

Caballito Cerrero Chato Reposado 46: Nose: Huge hints of dry white whine and white grapes. Think Pino Grigio meets Tequila Repo! Light Agave, some very minor barrel, unripened fruit/green apple, light smoke, with some light herbal and floral notes. Taste: Crazy mouth feel combined with a velvet smoothness. Huge white and green grape, unripe green fruits (lime, green apple, grape), light lemon, hay, with acidic and mineral notes. Finish: Just about perfect! The nose and flavor on the pallet allow this to hang around! It’s perfectly smooth and lingers in a way that lets the green apple really shines in the end. For 96 proof, it finishes off boldly yet doesn’t burn or overtake the enjoyment like some higher proofed spirits can. Conclusion: Yep! This one fucks! If you’re a dry white wine fan, you’re in for a treat! It’s unlike anything I’ve had and really shines through with complexity! With that said, this repo knows what it wants to be and where it’s going. As complex as it is, it’s simple and elegant. It flows in a way few spirits I’ve drank do. The agave is present but it’s so mild, which I can really appreciate! Absolute killer bottle!!

Caballito has done it again. This one has huge wine notes. The finish is very much like you drank a glass of white wine, although I swear there are cherry notes present. The signature Caballito smell is there (I love it) and it’s interspersed with barrel notes. Other distillers take note… This is how you balance tequila with a barrel.

The mouthfeel is exquisite. I’ll have to revisit for a more complete review since my tastebuds haven’t fully recovered from a recent bout of Covid.
