Lot 02 | Lote #2 Incredible viscosity as it is being poured. Nose: Honeycomb sweet agave with a gentle hint of smoke. Cinnamon, nutmeg and mint. Peach, melon and citrus. A fragrant floral note: Jasmine? Gardenia? Chalky minerals and freshly cut grass. Far more floral and fruit focused than the first lote. And perhaps fewer herbal and vegetal notes. A round appealing nose. Flavors: The first sip is palate filling: viscous, sweet and salty. The second sip reveals fruit, cinnamon and anise, smokey paprika, almond cream and toasted nuts. Buttery rich agave with a contrasting touch of mint. Finish: A silky-satin balanced finish slowly melts away, leaving a few farewell spicy punctuations.

Very interesting. Very light nose, agave and some earthiness, a little fruit. I almost want to say smoke, but not quite. Has a hint of something like that general mezcal nose but faint. Very soft, rounded agave on the palate, with a little pepper. A bit of salinity, and some baking spice notes. Got this as a sample from a friend so I’m going to go 5/10 on value. Overall solid stuff, a step above everything I’ve tried at this distillery.

Lot 01 | Nose:: clean and bright. Minty and citrus. Almost Ike the rind of a ripe grapefruit. A hint of an artisanal twist to it Taste: agave, smoke, warm long mid palate with a few herbal notes Finish: a bit of bitterness on the backend let’s you know it’s legit. I’m excited to see how this gets refined over time in the next few batches. This is fun. Something new and made by a crew willing to go out of their way to experiment. Cheers to that!

Not offensive. At least one person at 1477 can make decent Tequila annd in particular, this Blanco. Roast agave annd a nice mouth feel make this an easy sipper. Price is a little steep for a Blanco and value score reflects that.

I’m smelling agave, a touch of wood like trees in Autumn, a little citrus and some floral tones. On taste, I’m getting the agave shining bright, smoke, light pepper, minerals, and brine. Everything is balanced nicely, nothing overpowers. The legs are long and the finish lingers enough. Very nice traditional tequila from Alberto Partida, definitely worth a try.

I smell creamy buttery agave that has a vegetal undertone and some light pepper. There are some floral notes along with some mineral notes with hints of brine and green olives. There’s a faint hint of smoke and mint. The nose is full and layered. On the first sip I taste agave and smoke. I then get a peppery and creamy mouthfeel. I taste earthy minerals and a pleasant alcohol tingle from the 84 proof. The finish is warm, round and oily with a lingering smokey and peppery tingle.

Lote 01 Aromas: Bright and vivacious light colored tree fruit, and slightly smokey agave at first pass. Lemon/lime citrus aromas, cinnamon and a fresh minty note. An herbal medley: lemon thyme, sage, dill and a combination of finely ground black and green peppercorns. Earthy minerals and a growing level of smoke add interest and depth. Flavors: Bold fruit notes. Buttery, briny, oily mouth feel. Smokey, honey sweet agave, warming pepper heat, assertive spices and anise - all make for a vibrant and clean tasting experience. Finish and notes: The finish is round, warm and balanced…. It fades away slowly and satisfyingly. Kudos to Don Alberto.

Aroma: fresh has a very familiar smell but can’t name it maybe has a mezcal smokiness to it. Flavor: definitely get some earthiness; full mouthfeel almost chewy. Has some mint to it as well. Green agave on the tail end Finish: lingering minty finish with numbing effect and some alcohol.

Lot 02 | An interesting tequila! Smoke is definitely front and center here in both the nose and taste. Upon first opening the bottle you can smell the smoke from a mile away. Once you let it open up it settles down allowing you to pick out some of the other notes. Nose: Smoke, minerals, agave (in that order) then if you dig a little deeper you get a bit of brine. Taste: pretty much identical to the nose, very honest tequila here. Finish is medium but found the smoke to really get in the way of everything else. Overall enjoyable tequila but I don’t think it’s for everyone. Worth experiencing in my opinion and also left me really intrigued to try some of their aged expressions that I think would definitely balance the smoke.

Very smokey for a tequila. If you like mezcal you will like this. This has to be your flavor profile. Save your money if you don’t like smoke. The quality is there. This is not my favorite profile so I didn’t rate this highly.

Lot 03 | LOTE 3 42% ABV Tasted at Bowl of 'Zole fest 2022. Could only take short tasting notes. Aroma: Mineral, cooked agave, cinnamon, slight smoke Flavor: Mineral, thyme, cooked agave, cinnamon, pepper, brine, citrus brightness and light smoke. Oily mouthfeel with sufficient heat and some smoke carries through. Not available in NY yet, I'll definitely buy it as soon as it does

Lot 03 | If you told me it’s a Mezcal I would believe you. Not too Smokey, Lote 3 tasted at El Agave Above Old Town Tequila. It really stood out as the quality is there.

Lot 03 | Holy smokes! Is this a mezcal? Got it for a steal as it’s not in the system yet whew I’m tasting. I don’t drink mezcal because I don’t like the smoke. So…..

Clean taste, smooth and easy to drink Beautiful bottle for a blanco. Taste: Agave, Earthy- Good bottle to take when you want to try what an agave plant and clean tequila with no additives tastes like

This may be an unfair score due to a very loose cork on a sealed mini bottle (50ml). Very smoky aroma and taste with little agave flavor for a blanco. This sample bottle doesn’t taste anything like the other reviews. I hope to try another bottle and update my score at a later date. Updated October, 20222 after tasting at El Buho in Tlaquepaque. Much better, although the smoky flavor is not my favorite.

Lot 03 | Very Smokey but the sweetness of the agave still manages to come through, hints of vegetal, minerals, and a spice towards the end. A good sipper imo

Aroma: heavy agave forward, mezquite wood that present smoky character, vivid citrus aromas that finish with a subtle layer of black pepper and light herbs/spices. Flavor: notes of smoked agave, black pepper, anise, herbal, citrus (lemon zest), grilled pineapple, sweet mint, green fruits (apple & pear). It definitely has a buttery entrance to your palate with a mineral depth. You can actually taste its complexity! The finish is clean and crisp that leaves an enjoyable aftertaste to keep sipping it. Slightly high price, but once you learn about the process you will understand why. Small batch :)

So this came highly recommended to me by Blas at Mercado San Marcos in Rosarito Beach - which is the greatest little market in the world - and gotta admit, my dood let me down this time. The tequila was tasty but not what I expected - very heavy agave forward, smoke and black pepper - to the point where my wife kept asking, is this mezcal?! I will say this, it paired up perfectly with some topa chica and lime…my palette might have been blown out from lunch so will def try again.
