Minimal agave nose. Nothing else. Mid palate has a tropical feel but it is not sweet. The finish is harsh. Bitter almost a chemical taste. The heat stays in your cheeks for quite a while. But I notice a flaw, and unwanted and slightly unpleasant taste in my throat. After enjoying the Blanco, I am disappointed. Especially at the price I paid. I’m sure you’ll find a better way to spend your $54.00 plus tax.

Gonzales 1939 Anjeo (Total Wine @$54) is a fairly decent entry level Anjeo. Good nose and soft on the palate. Charming but not a stunner. The finish is quite short.

I didn’t hate this but it’s not particularly memorable. It’s fruitier than I expected for an añejo, but there’s not much of an agave presence left and the profile is generic. The nose is also pretty sweet - I can’t tell if there are additives in play. At Total Wine you can definitely do a lot worse than this but I would still recommend Arette or Espolon instead.

Agave notes in the aroma & taste. Buttery, floral, citrus in the nose. Oak, cooked agave, and caramel in the mouth. Long peppery feel in the finish.

This is one of my favorite low cost tequilas. It’s very smooth with a good rich caramel and vanilla flavor. It’s hard for me to find but I’m willing to drive a good ways to get it and it makes a great present.

Well rounded solid tequila. Light oak, Carmel and vanilla notes with a smooth finish
