Featured at Total Wine and More, this at least is a decent 100% Tequila unlike the diffuser made Don Roberto crap TW has also been promoting. Color of this is very dark for a Reposado though I'll note this is French Oak aged, maybe newly charred? Tastes OK though with some minerality, spice from the barrel and a nice back taste of agave as it finishes. Sweetness from the barrel and some richness from the FO make this a heavy Reposado. This could pass for many brands Añejo.

Mmm.::this is good. Aroma is agave with oak and vanilla Carmel; the taste is very nice with agave wetness- Carmel- pepper- vanilla with an oak peppery finish.

Nice agave flavor with a hint of vanilla and oak. Spice and pepper on the finish will make it a bit harsher on the finish. Would be good on the rocks

Subtle vanilla and slight butterscotch but neither overbearing, I like this tequila and recommend it

Very dark for a reposado. Perhaps aged to the limit. Mild agave and spice aroma followed by more spice, some hint of caramel sweetness and a little agave. The finish adds some pepper. Worth a try based on price point and availability.

Lije their blanco Gonzales 1939 Reposado ($42 @ Total Wine) is a mediocre sipping tequila at a reasonable price. I find all of Gonzales 1939 products to be overly soft on the nose and palate, as if the are targeting new folks into the tequila world. Check out Seattle Juan's comments. They are spot on.

Strong alcohol taste neat, tastes better on ice. Decent Reposado for the money.

Very nice aroma, a like oak. More alcohol and agave than the blanco in the taste. The agave lingers. Overall a solid Reposado.

Astringent and oaky on the aroma. Smooth, velvety, and rich agave flavor. Notes of caramel and pepper. Excellent finish.

Lots of cooked agave, citrus and barrel spice in the aroma. Butterscotch, cinnamon, pepper and more cooked agave in the taste. The finish stays long and peppery with hints of minerals and sweetness.
