Interesting but subtle aroma. Smooth flavor with a hint of agave and just slightly sweet. Mild finish.

Great nose of cinnamon and caramelized cooked agave. Great oily mouthfeel with cooked agave followed by cinnamon and creamburlle. Great anise medium finish.

Mexican 38% abv. version, lote: CTA007, bottled on 30-03-2021, tasted on 2-8-24. Color: yellow. Aroma: raw agave, quite intense herbal note, spices, cinnamon, hint of vanilla, hint of sweet clove, hint of black pepper. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, spicy, clove note is quite dominating, vanilla note is more evident on the palate, light wood note. Alcohol sensation is medium to high. Finish is medium to long, clove, raw agave, hint of cinnamon & vanilla note persists.

Had this in a blind taste test against siete leguas añejo. The aroma matches the 7L almost identically. Aroma: fruity, barrel and agave. Spice. Very pleasant and great aroma. Pallet: unfortunately the pallet is where it missed the mark. It was bitter, and lacked any kind of depth to the pallet. It was mostly spice, not any sweetness from the agave. Probably won’t try this again but it’s not horrible. Just not great.

Had at Elijah’s. Sweet, berry nose.

This is more peppery and vegetal than I expected but it’s pretty well-balanced in terms of barrel influence. Along with a pinch of honey, agave and sweet vanilla/caramel notes are prominent on the nose and palate. The oaky bitterness shows up more towards the finish but there’s a little alcohol buzzing around. It has a nice thick mouthfeel too. I found this for $45 and at that price I think it’s a decent pick. It doesn’t compete with some of the heavy hitters, but if you’re looking for something more budget-friendly that also has a decent amount of complexity this does the job.

The first sip is kind of spicy. The finish is good. I found the flavor of agave and a hint of caramel and some peppery taste.
