NOM 1614 | This Reposado is very tasty. The nose is earthy with agave and has a mineral aroma. I get mint and just a touch of rubber. I would love to see Cazcanes try a different product for their stopper as this is a bottle that is over a year old. Taste is sweet with notes of caramel and agave. Cinnamon and vanilla. Again, a slight rubber taste but not too off putting. Finish has a touch of alcohol but the mouthfeel is good.

Nose: cooked agave / pepper / vanilla/ oak / earth / pear / light citrus and orange peel /lemongrass / chocolate/ Taste: agave cooked / vanilla/ earth/ pepper / oak / butter / banana / pear / peach / orange peel / lemongrass / spearmint / chocolate/ honey Finish: the flavors disappear quickly leaving a viscous mouthfeel that’s good, but without a lingering taste note(s) the finish seems lacking. This reposado’s nose is good, albeit a little weak, but the taste is good. There’s very little barrel flavor, but enough of what there is comes through. The finish leaves me wanting more.

NOM 1614 | Malolactic aroma - cheesiness. Cooked agave. A delicious smell honestly The cheese is subtle on the palet. Oak comes through strongly Finish is warm and you can feel the barrel aging. This tequila would be a great party favor - unique attributes while also appealing to the masses

NOM 1614 | Eye- nice straw color and slow forming legs Nose- nice baking, spices upfront that flows into a right banana and floral notes with deep caramel flowing throughout. Taste- Cook agave and fruit such as bananas with some barrel oakiness and butter scotch

NOM 1614 | Muted nose with barrel notes. Very soft palate and finish. Not a lot going on with this one. Not huge on Cazcanes personally. Tasted with AF 2024 Blind Repo. Update: bumping two more points after trying again.

NOM 1614 | Agave, cinnamon, lime, minerals, brine, sweet fruit, light oak. The new NOM retains some of that dusty hay mineral vibe, but this one seems a little creamier and a sweeter. Price knocks it a bit, but I enjoy this new batch!

NOM 1614 | First aroma was a light butterscotch that gave way to green lime citrus. Light agave with sweetness and citrus rind. Persistent peppery burn down the throat but not offensive. Stronger agave flavor on the third sip. Slight bitter aftertaste. A good sipper that’s definitely not for the Casamigos crowd.

NOM 1614 | Cazcanes Reposado #7 - 40%ABV - NOM1614 (Current NOM) - This Reposado has an old school rustic feel to it. The overall scent is cooked agave and dry barrel spices. Several other aromas stick out such as honey water, jalapeño oil, cracked peppercorn and just a hint of dry hay. The flavors are well balanced and homogeneous to the nose. You get the buttery cooked agave and the natural sweetness that comes from it. The barrel spices start to appear along with the mix of the black pepper and jalapeño capsaicins. The finish is pleasantly spicy. This is a bold but not overpowering Reposado. It’s well made and fun to sip. - They utilized a blend of 5, 8 & 10 month aged tequilas using 3 different barrel chars; 1/3 low char, 1/3 medium char & 1/3 heavy char American Oak. They cooked their agave in both a Stone/Brick oven and a low pressure Autoclave. 50/50.

NOM 1614 | 50% Stone Brick oven, 50% low pressure autoclave. NOM 1614 Batch R72301 Nose: Warm, welcoming first impressions. Rich and round. Somehow soothing. Subtle spicing. Cinnamon, allspice, citrus, green apple and tart apricot. Pine forest aromas. A touch of green peppercorn in brine. Flavors: Honeyed agave fruitiness. A gentle thwack of pepper/cinnamon heat. Thick and silky on the palate. Salted butterscotch candy flecked with licorice. A very integrated profile that transitions harmoniously as aromas and flavors meld and evolve. **If you are looking for the slightly quirky notes found in a number of Cazcanes tequilas — from funk to cheese, to vegetable notes like asparagus or artichokes— those elements will not be found in this Reposado. It retains classic Cazcanes personality and character, while achieving pleasing polish and balance.

NOM 1599 | As everyone else said.. it’s expensive. But very good. Nice taste of agave(fibers like your getting the nectar from it) loads of pepper little caramel and a slight bit of a candy caramel apple. Very nice.

NOM 1599 | This the new Lote 02/21 from this year. The agaves were sourced from Los Altos. And 7% extra añejo was added. Nose: The aromas begin with caramel and a slightly funky, sour note which gradually fades into the round vanilla aromas. Subtle baking spices, tame white pepper and lightly toasted nuts. Dried fruit: apricots and raisins. The caramel and vanilla morph into a butterscotch richness. With a little breathing time, thyme, tea and cut grass emerge. Flavor: An incredible oily, buttery texture coats your entire palate. There is salinity and an umami element. As a counterpoint, the tame white pepper of the nosing, takes on a near fiery presence. Assertive agave fruitiness. Spices punching through: cinnamon and cloves. Hazelnut and butterscotch rounding out the profile and bringing it all together. Cazcanes does not produce assembly line profiles - pretty unique tequilas.
