It is surprisingly sweet, could be additives or could be the barrels that were used. It is a dessert Tequila but it is not offensive like other sweet tequilas, it tastes more natural.

Well balanced, cooked agave, barrel age, alcohol with a slight burn ... fair to good

Nice dessert like tequila with notes of white chocolate, Dulce de leche, cooked agave, pineapples, raisins, almonds, pecans, cola, sultanas, oak, figs, and vanilla.

Like so many XA’s in this price range it is way too sweet. Thankfully there is a bit more alcohol burn to balance and it actually does retain some agave flavor amidst the ocean of barrel notes.

At first, as with the taste, the alcohol is prominent. allowing it to sit brings about the smells of caramel and custard. This tequila requires patience as its gifts are well hidden by its alcoholic nature. Given its high cost, it is a relatively lower value tequila. Riazul has a unique identity in the tequila world...this one simply needs to go back to finishing school.
