Tasting notes: I got hay, herbal, smoke, agave, citrus, cinamon and a mild pepper finish. Overall, I appreciate this expression for it's complexity. Tho, smokiness is not my profile. I did like this. Would like to revisit side-by-side with Cerro de Luz

Complex and evolving aroma. Initial sweetness followed by distinct smokiness which then moves to a cooked agave, mineral and brine. Flavor has an initial sweetness that moves to pepper and smoke. Heat at the back end that lingers in the finish. So many things about this one lean toward “mezcal-like” but it is clearly tequila and not mezcal (thankfully from my perspective). Side-by-side tasting of Aniversario-Cerro-Brix. 4-4-2023

Smoke, agave, grass, cinnamon, and sweet citrus. Wow, this is complex and there’s more to discover with each sip. Cooked in an earthen pit, the smoke really comes through like a mezcal. Very interesting.

smoke hits the nose, maybe better described as ash followed by cooked agave, cinnamon. flavor mimics the aroma with ash and cooked agave up front. heat is present, as expected at 46% with green pepper and earthiness. smoke is really noticed here and adds to other flavors with a dry citrus picking up the back end. fun to keep sipping on and retrohaling. really good value here

Aroma : Cooked agave, smoke, earth, grass, and the same lactic, cheesy note from the Tahona Blanco. Taste : Strong cooked agave and smoke predominate alongside notes of cinnamon and vegetal grass. The texture is oily, full, and buttery and kind of reminds me of Gran Dovejo's High Proof Blanco. Finish : Long with some black pepper spice and a (good) alcohol presence.

Light roast on the nose, a nuanced smoke. Light citrus notes, tropical fruit and some brine. Full bodied and oily, there’s a green herbal profile I get from karwinskii mezcals. Some spice on the backend, relatively brief but complex finish. Easy drinking for 46%

WARNING - Hard to find Nose: Smokey oysters, brine and minerals, sweet agave, butter and a hint of green pepper. Palate: Mezcal SMOKE (not a mesquite / bbq smoke), green vegetal agave, creamy butter and then white pepper. Oily and viscous mouthfeel! Finish: Amazing! The nose and palate come together for a nice full flavored finish that lingers into a pepper ending. This is a tequila for experienced tequila drinkers and mezcal lovers!

Very rich nose and earthy flavors. Lots of cooked agave both in the nose and initial take. I get some sweet earth citrus taste. Love it.

Super clear agave nose, more roastey than smokey, but yes! smokey. Some added matured depth from the other special release 1123 blancos. Great clean agave flavor with some very rich brininess, almost bacon but not. Half way through a 50 ml sipper, I’m going to super slow sip the rest. Salud!

As a huge fan of the Rosales family and Cascahuin, this one is perfection. It has a slight smokiness from the earthen pit cooking and fermenting with bagasse. But its only detectable if you know where to look. It presents as slighty hot, bit gives way to stramed agave, pepper and asparagus. Wonderful mouth feel and long finish. This is one to stock up on.

This is absolutely delicious. A nose of straw, earth, butter, smoke, and citrus. The sweetness is there with the smoke, but not overwhelming The taste is absolutely delicious with a thick with viscosity, that delicious smell of earth, straw, citrus, butter, and smoke. The earthen pit makes a beautiful cook, giving you a nice smoke, but not over whelming. The same with the sweetness. It's there, but it's not overwhelming. A smokey buttery barn.

This is nice I'm not a Smoke tequila drinker but this is amazing. Love the smokiness is lite but sweet and thick. Agave present I want to compare this one to the Patron Smoky and between them this one take it all the way. It is also a lot cheaper. Love it

Smoky smooth, there is something special in this bottle. Old school tradition meets incredibly complex flavors of citrus, earth and silky smoke.

I got rose petals, loads of cooked agave and a cool moist clay/cement note on the nose. It is very aromatic and immediately rises out of the glass. The body develops into lots of ripe cherry. A velvet, tongue layering texture and viscosity. Some smoke and heat on the finish but that's the earthen pit and higher proof talking.

Truly amazing tequila from the Rosales family at Cascahuin. Layers of complexity going on here both on the nose and in the mouth. Sit back and enjoy this!!

Nose: There is no mistaking that this agave forward aroma is from an earthen pit. The first whiffs bring loads of citrus, earth, smoke and mineral notes. This has an undercurrent of the barnyard and wet hay aromas that I find in their Tahona Blanco. As it opens a bit, cinnamon, light pepper, fruity pineapple, cut grass and herbal nuances emerge. This has a bright and clean nose. Flavors: Creamy and buttery in the mouth with some brininess. The rich caramelized agave is amazing. The initial smokiness abates on the palate. It is accompanied by spicy cinnamon, cracked pepper and citrus with an afterthought of vanilla and anise. Very dynamic profile and vivacious in the mouth. Beware, Aniversario packs a punch! This evaluation will probably be a work in progress...

Nose: Smells like a Mezcal. Brine, salt, smoke, grapefruit, pineapple, and Palate: Agave, grass, touch of smoke, apple, very herbaceous and more agave! Yummm Finish: Some pleasant and lingering heat on the tongue. This is just delicious. Different from CDL but just as good. It’s beautiful.

Was lucky enough to get a bottle of this. Very traditionally made tequila with the earthen pit cook process. Lots and lots of smoke. May be closer to mezcal than tequila. It is quite unique.

The best of both worlds. You get the smoke from the mezcal on smell and taste. Super crisp and clean on the nose. Buttery, peppery, citrus and wonderful agave sweetness on taste. Long finish with some earthyness. Grab a bottle if you can find it!

Wow - this is a mind blowing product. Incredibly unique flavor profile with super light smoke, agave, earth, and grass on the nose with complex flavors of butter, agave, black pepper, earth and very light smoke on the tongue. It’s also amazing how viscous this tequila is - so much body. It’s interesting how you can taste the process almost. Just wow - if you can find this product buy as much as you can, it’s truly a super tasty and authentic tequila.

Cooked in an earthen pit! The smoke aroma and flavor gives way to tahona crushed agave goodness in the flavor and finish. The 46 percent alcohol content makes the finish spectacular, this is not harsh at all. An extremely well made tequila, it is a very unique offering. Grab it if you can. I only opened this bottle after I found a second one to keep. A special occasion treat. Highly recommend!
