Tanteo Blanco 42.5%ABV - 85 proof - The nose is clean. There’s a nice mix of cooked and fresh agave that’s carried by some light alcohol vapors. There’s an ever so slight sweet floral note and just a hint of a green vegetal note. It’s a nice simple blanco nose without any distractions. There’s some initial sweetness from the cooked agave and then the cooked agave itself arrives before. It’s dense on the palate and it has some salinity and minerals. The proof shows up as white pepper and clean jalapeño capsaicin. Overall this is a solid blanco that can be an everyday sipper but it will also do very well in a cocktail.
12/2023 NOM 1551 agave, cinamon, a little alcohol, floral and vegetal notes with a metalic flavor on palate/finish (perhaps because only stainless steel pots were used in distillation/ no copper?) but not off-putting overall: this is a good, reasonably-priced cocktail tequila i also enjoyed the tanteo flavored tequilas (habanero and jalepeno) in cocktails. the chipotle flavor was a little too smokey for me.
This is a good Blanco. Aroma has some vanilla sweetness to the agave but is excellent. The taste also carries the vanilla and adds some decent black pepper and is good. The finish is fine. For a fairly low priced tequila this is terrific. I was skeptical when I got so much vanilla in the aroma and flavors, but I’m happy to see it’s on the additive free list. The rep from Tanteo was also talking up the additive, free qualities of their tequila.
quite a bit of agave on the nose that follows through on the palate and finish. medium heat especially being higher proof with some pepper. not bad, needs time to open up Edit: this is definitely a sleeper. A real great tequila at an affordable price. The nose and palate are filled with gorgeous agave that won’t break the bank.
Good juice for making bloody Marias. Agave, earth, pepper, nutmeg, and jalapeño
When I see a brand that makes flavored tequila AND has "produced by" on the label I avoid at all costs. I'm glad I got bored and tried it. A little higher proof than the usual suspects at 85 and it shows... in a good way. Nose- Agave is immediate, followed by earth, clove, grapefruit juice, alcohol, and pepper Taste- Vegetal like baked agave with clove and nutmeg, then my palate gets dominated by spicy jalapeno. It shocked me how much I loved this combo. Finish- Spicy jalapeno and cinnamon that lasts! A little alcohol heat coats the throat but never knocks me back Value- $38 in Michigan makes this a great deal for those that crave the heat. It would make an amazing Margarita but there are cheaper options. Overall I'm shocked that this is so good and additive-free.
Cooked agave, vegetal nose with clove, wet earth and black pepper. Nice mouthfeel with spice on the finish.
On the nose I get a lot of agave, some alcohol, and citrus Taste: cooked agave(more like nutmeg and clove), citrus (like an grapefruit peel) , pepper. Not bad, has some heat that last on the tongue most likely from the pepper
Citrusy, agave forward aroma. Really fresh feeling. Punchy agave, black pepper flavor. Lingering alcohol finish.
This is a sleeper of a tequila and most likely overlooked by most. It’s probably because the previous NOM was a flop for those who tried. The New NOM 1551 is a different story and produced the right way. This is higher than 80 proof so it will punch through in a cocktail and you get more flavor if you’re sipping. Nose: sweet cooked agave, mint and hints of vanila bean with some sweet/semi bitter citrus like lime rind. This needs a moment to open up before some of the astringency subsides. It will especially once you get down to about 3/4 of the bottle. Then it really opens up. Palette: closely aligned with how it smells with the addition of earthy pepper, some grassy herbal notes as well or like a raw + rich cooked agave on the finish. Light to medium finish. Overall, you won’t be disappointed if you sip or mix. A good choice on the higher budget options out there.
Fantastic budget blanco. I really enjoyed sipping. Delicious agave and peppery.
Agave, mineral, pepper, very clean and just the right amount of bite from the alcohol. For the price this is really good stuff “$30 in NJ”
Lote: BMX01, 00101, tasted on 11-27-23. Aroma: raw agave, fresh raw green vegetal notes, hint of metallic note, mineral, aromatic herbs, it is quite aromatic but slightly too herbal & vegetal. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, metallic note is more like strong minerality on the palate, quite expressive. Finish is medium long, raw green aromatic herbs and vegetables with a hint of raw agave note persists. Luckily at the very end agave sweetness emerges.
Somewhat muted but clean. Not a strong finish. | Adjusted score after revisiting and letting it rest after opening. Got more of a sharp vegetal note like a spicy celery this time and more honey.
This is the perfect tequila to stock up on and bring to social gatherings. You can sip it if you like but it really shines in cocktails. You can find it for 29.99 which makes it ideal for any situation. It’s honestly remarkable how good it is especially at the price point. The 92 rating is more about the value, but removing the value aspect id still rate it high at about an 86-88. Cheers to the Tanteo distillers, appreciate the hard work!
This is easily my favorite everyday sipper. I get tons of agave, minerals, black pepper, and a floral spice of some sort with good viscosity and a light warm finish. the best part: it's under 40 bucks.
Sweet aroma??
Sweet, decent
Too peppery
Tanteo's blanco ($35-$40USD) is a great value. While it is rated a little below some truly great balncos like G4, Cascahuin Tahona, and Terralta, it is priced very competitively. Works great as an every day sipper, but could easily be used for a killer Margarita. Nose: Cooked agave, Jalapeño, black pepper in the nom end. Taste: A medium oily mouthfeel with peppery heat that are in perfect balance with the mild sweetness. Capped off with a medium to long finish.
Nice and clean on the nose. A nice peppery heat on taste with a decent earthy finish.
Stop the press!!!! I need Not Expect for this to taste this way & Smell this way Beautiful black pepper taste(taste buds love the Sweet Heat) Agave smell is right in your nose. Update on 01/05/2023. Yes it’s a 89!!!
fresh cut grass, light citrus, herbal, black pepper, dry chiles, earthy.
Lou is surprised by the quality of Tanteo Blanco, a brand that's typically known for its infused products.

The aroma was fresh and citrusy, with an alluring petrichor dominance that made me wonder why I hadn’t been drinking this sooner. The taste carried that same petrichor essence, complemented by bold grassiness reminiscent of green agave, a touch of sweetness, mint, and refreshing citrus. It’s incredibly fresh, uncomplicated, and simply delicious. The slightly higher proof adds to its appeal, making it an easy choice for a casual Blanco sipper. I was pleasantly surprised by its straightforwardness and how enjoyable it was.
