Outstanding balance of cooked and barrel aged agave. Great nose and finish. Like everything from Patron, there is the price.

Apricot, cherry, clove, and buttery caramel nose with sweet agave flavor and spicy (pepper), dry finish that balances out the sweet flavor.

Dried fruit, butter, cinnamon, peach aromas. Cooked agave and toasted nuts in the flavor, has a nice sweetness to it. It feels nice in the mouth, thick and round. Flavor is my favorite part of this.

Despite 10 years of barrel aging, I would have expected a “woody” nose or palate- instead, the aromas and flavors are distinctively, though tastefully those of cherry, caramel, cooked agave, butter, dried fruit, cinnamon, butter, and the expected cacophony of notes of a medium aged tequila and certainly lacking the complexity I would have anticipated for a ten year old- especially considering the price tag.

Interesting story… I rate Patron silver a little higher than sone, not that it is exceptional by any stretch but to me it’s like the Makers Mark of Tequila being found in almost every bar and restaurant and not a bad pour vs other mixer level offerings. So, one night in a small restaurant I ordered Patron. The server comes back and says “we only have one of the aged ones”. Anejo she tried to say, so I said bring me that, neat, I will give myself a treat. After nosing it and one sip, I flagged her down and said I want to see that bottle! Long story short, the restaurant was swamped, we did not eat a bite for probably 50 minutes and the manager came by at one point and said “All the drinks are on me. Sorry for the long delay”. Everyone else ordered beer or Coca-Cola, I made out like a bandit with two free snifters of this gem! Truly an exceptional, very complex yet perfectly balanced and beautifully colored, extra aged expression. Surely one of the very best to ever come out of this distillery. Highly recommended!

lightly sweet smell, oak, cinnamon, almost a little fruity. The first taste that hits you is definitely the oak but it quickly subsides into a smooth dynamic flavor. There is almost no burn at all and even after ten years in barrels you can still taste the agave. It really is quite enjoyable.

The aroma is like peach jam, apricot and pitted fruit. The oak to me over powers this juice. I’ve had better XA’s from the Camarena brothers (Carlos and Felipe) and Enrique Fonseca, Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia.
