Nose: The tantalizing French oak presence is distinctive and not easy to miss. There is a bit of a sharp oak note as well. The French oak brings forth a panoply of barrel/baking spices that meld into a new delicious alchemy. Ripe fruit, dried pitted fruit, dried citrus and vanilla marry nicely with the barrel. There is an undercurrent of musty cellar and minerals that recedes as it opens up. Flavor: Initial pop of fruitiness, white pepper spiciness, and lively citrus nuances. The barrel spices introduce themselves individually: cloves, anise, allspice, cardamom.... then return to their earlier state of blended alchemy. A subdued almond suggestion has joined the vanilla in a velvety mouth feel. The only detractor is the slightest bitter note... Lote 1023 14 05 19

While I like this, I prefer the profile of the 43% bourbon barrel aged XA. Some bitter notes on the finish lead me to believe that just a few uses from now these barrels may be awesome with better spice and barrel presence than this current batch Lote 981 16 03 19. Time will tell as Savoy Brown sang.

This is a new release we tasted at an event. Aroma of cooked agave, caramel and oak. Flavor of agave and oak. Nice long finish. Since new not sure of the price.
