Cool story but definitely does not taste like it’s additive free like they are claiming. Not much from 1438 worth getting excited about IMO.

Tasted a small sample (need to come back to do a proper tasting) Initial thoughts: Vanilla/sweet notes… flat profile Oak and sweetness overpower the agave flavor. Minimal agave detected

On the nose, caramel, barrel spice. Vanilla, cooked agave. Very soft. Sweet tobacco in the empty glass, I’m a sucker for that specific aroma, so extra points in the nose for me. On the palate, Agave stronger than the nose implies. Light vanilla, caramel. Not too complex. A bit thin, not as oily as I like. Definitely a very competent Repo, but loses some points in value for me as I haven’t been able to find it under $42, and I would struggle to pay that when El Tesoro is an option, and cheaper in my market. Still, they’re very different and it’s worth trying, you may like it more.

Nose: cooked agave, some oak, ripe tree fruit, vanilla, clove, and sweet cinnamon Flavor: cooked agave, cinnamon, clove, oak, sweet fruitiness, and a nice creamy mouth feel. Finish: medium and starts sweet and ends spicy

Distinctly caramel aromas, slightly smoky on the palate, smooth but somewhat unremarkable finish.

It’s got some sweet notes. It smells good but not like an additive free tequila. It’s not bad at all but it’s not as clean as others. I would buy again but it’s not a top tier tequila.

I enjoyed this, but the flavor has an unnatural amount of vanilla. They claim it’s additive free, but it doesn’t really taste like tequila. If you enjoy the very sweet tequilas with heavy vanilla and caramel flavor, you’ll probably enjoy this one. This is one I’d highly recommend to someone who isn’t very into tequila. It’s a cool backstory/marketing, but possibly lacking in honesty and authenticity.

I was told there were no additives, but the taste seems very much like it’s loaded with something artificial. Too sweet.

It has a strong vanilla flavor right off the bat. I can taste some agave but it is not very agave forward. It’s got a funny finish. Kinda additive tasting. It’s not horrible but not great

Nice flavor. Definitely some vanilla flavor from the barrel. Not really sweet though. The guy pouring samples at The Outsider said no additives.

Bouquet is pleasant but sweet. Flavor also shared a sweet palate almost like an ice pop or a creamsicle. As a gift for someone that likes Tequila and likes sweet drinks, this would be a nice option to get them.

Better aroma than the Blanco, super vanilla. An interesting Burst of flavor upon entry in the mouth most likely from the French oak barrel. The barrel really dominates the taste. A little spicy, minty and oaky. Finish is good but not very interesting.

Sweet, but tasty in most ways. Just a little overly sweet, I guess.

This is the sweetest non additive Repo I have tasted. Very tasty, floral and lots vanilla. Good stuff.

Definitely vanilla and honey upfront for me. as I read the profile I got the butterscotch and cinnamon as well.

My bias upfront. I’m not a sweet person. The aroma has vanilla and some agave. It also has some ethanol mixed in. The mouthfeel is watery but carries the vanilla forward into the finish which adds some cinnamon to go with the vanilla sweetness. Something seems out of place here. It’s fairly smooth and an easy drinker but gosh, that vanilla is sweet. Barreling doesn’t really do this. Maybe they were trying to imitate other fake shit like Clase Azul at a more affordable price point. Certainly a reasonable business venture.
