CTB045. On the nose, I got a saline type of aroma right off the bat and then a ton of cooked agave. A little bit of cinnamon, and a grassy note. On the palate, very abundant cooked agave. Some cinnamon, baking spices, a nice sweetness. Very drinkable, very tasty. This is overall very good, but it’s missing that “it” factor for me. I was hoping for a little more from this one given all the hype. I’ll give it some time though, it may grow on me. I was notoriously not a fan of Cascahuin but most of their expressions have grown on me. I’ll come back to it and update my review at a later time, after I’ve sat with it for a while. I’m the three tastings I’ve done, I’ve liked it more each time so maybe there’s more to it than I’m getting currently.
Had the new version coming out of Nom 1465. All I can say is wow…. Nice agave, little citrus, mint (peppermint) honey, light pepper. This is a huge step up from the original. So good.
Has initial great cooked agave notes, that are later minimized by subtle small defects. Not a bad a tequila, but kept me wanting more of a wow factor. Basic profile, agave + pepper + citrus + floral
Nose: Lots of cooked agave, nice citrus, lime, and black pepper. Flavor: Agave, spice, and pepper. The finish is short and ends with some spice.
Mexican version is 38%. Clear in the glass without oily legs. Aroma of cooked agave and citrus. Flavor of agave and black pepper. Medium-long finish.
Tasted originally at El Búho in 2019 with Emilio, John Welch and Scott Perry. Original score was 81. Score for the “new recipe” is 82. Notes follow for the new 2022 iteration. Blanco lote 046, 38% ABV. Nose: Agave. A stray barnyard nuance. A touch of sharpness to the nose. Green agave, baked agave. Cinnamon, florals and vanilla in the background. Faint dusty/pepper. All the aromas stand out distinctly from one another, but with the volume turned down to low. Flavor: The volume gets more audible in the tasting. Sweet, peppery and spicy. Agave stands tall. Nice oils for 38% ABV. Almond and vanilla creaminess add to the round mouth feel. Medium pepper heat on the way down. Trace bitters. Finish: Short finish. Pretty simple profile. A little muddled, yet appealing. Priced attractively.
Strong agave aroma. Smooth flavor with agave and pepper. Somewhat harsh finish though.
Citrus, cinnamon and earthy in the aromas. Cooked agave, floral and medicinal with the taste. Black pepper, almonds and herbal in the finish.
Aroma full of cooked agave and vegetable. On the palate cooked agave, pepper and earthy minerals.
A more approachable version of the still strength. Less herbaceous, little bit fruitier.
LOT: CTB049 View: totally transparent, very light tears. Freshly served; Aroma: it smells a little chemical, I don't know if it's a diffuser or a high-pressure autoclave. Herbal and mineral. Taste: It tastes better than it smells, but it definitely has an industrial process. A little mineral and herbal, maybe a little citrus. Nothing spectacular. Aftertaste: Citrus, maybe a little between orange and lemon. I let it oxygenate for 10 minutes. Aroma: It seems to me that it got worse, the chemical is more noticeable and predominates over any other smell. In a blind tasting you could confuse it with a José Cuervo or a cristalino due to the aroma (although without the vanilla). Flavor: The flavor is better than the aroma without a doubt, but I don't think it's good either. A little sweetness from agave, black pepper. Aftertaste: citrus and spicy.
Aroma - agave upfront, vegetal , peppery, mineral, Taste - a little hot but not bad , cooked agave, mineral taste , peppery ,a very light taste of vanilla at the end.
CTB045
excellent clean banco, lots of agave upfront, vegetal and mineral, gives you the punch of a high proof without being one, nice medium finish.
LOTE CTB045.
Green and vegetal on the nose. Minerality, peppery, hint of sweetness on taste. Almost like a jalapeño towards finish.
Pepper mint flavor finish is pepperyy
Still strength at 108, so has a bite, but exceptional, Met Lalo Camarena
LOTE CTB045: Citrus, earthy and lots of roasting up front! Excellent aroma and superb finish!
Slight oily mouth feel which I really like. I like some viscosity not a thin tequila. Aroma and taste…like you were standing right there in the agave roasting room. Strong complex roasted agave flavors.
Slightly smoother than Patron but has a little burn
Batch: LOTE CTB045: my score was based on this batch. It is a really good tasting Blanco. Delicious cooked agave, pepper, with hints of Honey and vanilla.
Lote ctb045. This one is going to be a hit when folks find out about it. Delicious
Strong cooked agave on the nose but a strong cinnamon flavor upon tasting this incredibly delicious tequila. Great for sipping.

Nothing special for me on this blanco. Wanted to like it, a little hot, vegetal, not my flavor profile
