NOM 1614 | Nose: agave / earth / minerals/ hint of pepper / himt of pineapple/ grapefruit/ orange peel / lemongrass / hay / tea / rose / brine Taste: sweet agave cooked / pepper and cinnamon/ vanilla/ earth / mineral / pineapple/ apple / orange/ grapefruit/ mint / licorice / tea / orange blossom/ cream soda Finish: watery wet rainwater taste and mouthfeel - not viscous, but not quite distilled water feeling. Good lingering sweet agave/licorice/ fruit/ pepper notes. Very clean crisp finish that goes quick taking everything but the sweetness with it. This blanco has a great flavor profile and much of the sweetness and cinnamon spiciness bold and dominate the whole taste. Not a bad thing, but it’s definitely leaning to the sweetness not earthiness side of taste. It’s not an overpowering sweetness; it’s very enjoyable and refreshing. This is a very good blanco that could be sipped or mixed at its cost level.
NOM 1599 | Nom 1599. Really good! Tons of agave on the aroma. Very clean taste still lots of agave and some light sweetness. The finish is warm and good.
NOM 1614 | While the aroma of cooked agave and minerality wasn’t surprising, never have I gotten the aroma of golden toast which was deliciously inviting. The distinct smell of anise, caramel, and floral added to the intrigue with vanilla or ripe banana, butterscotch and a strong alcohol tone. Upon tasting, there is prominent anise/licorice, with cooked agave that takes center stage while peppermint, dark chocolate, toffee, light dill, jalapeño, celery, minerality, warm butterscotch, hay, and vanilla, all mingle together wonderfully to produce an overall spicy sweetness on the palate. The finish continues with a bit of spiciness anise, celery, fading butterscotch, herbal, and light ethyl. Though this does run noticeably hot, the taste is indeed enjoyable.
NOM: 1614 Bottle No. B92302 Initial nasal impact is a prickle and naturally sweet. Aroma of cooked agave, warm peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream, cherry, cinnamon, mineral and pepper. Mouthfeel is very creamy with sufficient alcohol for 50% ABV. Black pepper hits first on the palate but quickly gives way to sweet cooked agave, mineral, lime, brine, spearmint, cinnamon, some stone fruit and a hint of vanilla. Long balanced finish. The No 9 is their wheelhouse. Very well balanced at 50% ABV. Amazing creaminess, sweet cooked agave, fruit, brine, mint.. it all comes together so nicely. Need to take a few points off for the near $90 price point, but it is outstanding.
NOM 1614 | Love this expression from their new distillery, lots citrus, light white pepper and cooked agave
NOM 1614 | Wow, now we’re talking! Compared to the No.7 this is like seeing a movie in colour! Smoke, mesquite, papaya. The increased ABV makes this a must have product
NOM 1614 | Cazcanes Blanco #9 - 50% ABV, 100 proof - NOM1614 (Current NOM) - The cooked agave jumps out of the glass! It’s buttery, creamy and slightly earthy. There’s some bright citrus and minerals. It has a good aromatic quality. - That intense agave from the nose also translates onto the palate. The agave is buttery and the citrus is crisp. There’s some dense minerality just before the finish. The high ABV gives it a nice peppery finish. The flavors are well balanced and strong. That high proof gives a nice alcohol tingle without it being considered hot. Overall this is a great HP Blanco! It has an old school traditional flavor profile that I love. - #unconquerableSpirit
NOM 1614 | Soft nose, difficult to pickup the agave. Soft palate and the finish is easy. Doesn’t impress me
NOM 1614 | NOM 1614 Wow! No. 9 really stands out in the line up from 1614. The aroma, rich mouthfeel, earthy cooked agave, minerals, and slight citrus. I still believe the Joven from 1599 is my favorite Cazcanes expression, but the 1614 No. 9 Blanco surpasses the previous NOM 1599 No. 10.
NOM 1614 | This might be the sweet spot of the blancos. I’m digging this one from the new distillery a few points more than old batches and above No 7. It really pops!
NOM 1614 | The first batch of Blanco #9 out of TTap NOM 1614 Nose: Sweet caramelized agave drizzled with molasses. Mint, powdered ginger and warm cinnamon aromas. Next emerges baked pineapple, green apple, and a cherry/peach amalgam. Seductive creamy vanilla, sweet and nutty bitter almond and a light peach orchard fragrance. Green peppercorns in brine, minerals, earthy notes and a spritz of lime. Flavor: Initial attack of peppery heat, sweetness and mouthwatering salinity. Buttery viscosity. The molasses and vanilla show up again, coupling with the sumptuously sweet cooked agave. The aromas of fruits and spices follow through to the tasting - but as background players. The 50% ABV is well integrated - no significant ethanol blow back. Finish: # 9 is a chameleon as it opens up and ebbs, with nuanced changes all along the way. A balanced ensemble of elements. A clean and cohesive sip.
NOM 1599 | Agave, cherry, spearmint, white pepper. Slight bitters.
NOM 1599 | revisited NOM 1614 Oct 2023 really enjoyed this blanco so I adjusted my rating OLD NOM July 2 2022 CAZCANES BLANCO NO 9 high proof 50% ABV Nose funky cheesy and high alcohol Taste: much different and better than the nose. Sweet agave with heat and pepper Finish: lingers with warmth, sweet agave and pepper I liked it better when I tried it a month or two later so I adjusted my rating. still don't love the nose
NOM 1599 | This is a different Blanco. It has a funky taste to it that is pleasant. Intense agave, butter and the alcohol for a high proof is not that noticeable.
NOM 1599 | Ive only been surprised by a new brand twice before. Great nose on entire line. Super savory and finish is incredible and my favorite. Not an everyday for the price, but definitely worth the price. Very special and after hearing the story of how this came to be makes total sense why it tastes so special.
NOM 1599 | Like this high proof agave forward blanco. Good balance, only negative is the price point at $80 plus dollars
NOM 1599 | Score= 90. Delicious silky-smooth high-proof Blanco. Lots of agave sweetness, anise, floral, herbal just simply fantastic. In my Top 10 high-proof Blancos Nom 1614 = ALSO 90
NOM 1599 | Very good. Vegetal and cooked agave presence. For a high proof not a bad burn good medium finish. Everyone should try
NOM 1599 | Nose: cloves, cinnamon, mineral, vanilla, and floral Flavor: some cooked agave, tart, vegetal, herbal, and dried dark cherries Finish: Medium and spicy, ends with dark cherries
NOM 1599 | Nose: Spicy entrance: cloves, cinnamon, green cardamom and cracked pepper. Green agave and sweet ripe agave aromas. Followed up with a floral/ berry note. Hints of guava and dark cherries. An earthy, mineral element in the aroma. Light citrus and baked pineapples. A touch of smokiness. Flavor: Ripe natural agave leads into spiciness and a buttery brown sugar note. The combination of jalapeño pepper, plus white and black pepper are borderline overpowering - as well as holding trace bitterness. There are vegetal and herbal undertones of artichoke and asparagus. A green banana note, a whisper of citrus. Not really oily in the mouth - yet it is appealing on the palate. A clean profile. Finishes with a suggestion of subtle vanilla. This high proof needs a lot of time to open up and show it’s pedigree.
NOM 1599 | Green agave, peppercorn, floral
NOM 1599 | Rated blind for MBTC 2018.
NOM 1599 | MBTC 2018 Blind Tasting
NOM 1599 | Tasted this newcomer at the first annual Margaritas y Mas Festival in Santa Barbara . Really nice earthy , vegetal slightly sweet very agave forward highproof without the extra heat . This new label has a pretty cool story of finding a very small distillery , that I don’t even think had a NOM and getting them to produce their tequila , and wanting to do things like we know they should be done . Hope they can pull it off because this is some really tasty stuff . Keep yer eyes on this one !!!

NOM 1614 | Great blanco that shows how ABV can boost a taste profile. I compared this with no. 7 and many of the notes of no. 9 are similar but just on steroids compared to the 7. On the nose I get agave and earth. The Chisholm Trail HP glass pulls out a lot and I am getting citrus fruits like pineapple, orange and grapefruit. I get cinnamon on the nose along with mint. There is some alcohol on the nose as well. On the tongue, a nice sweet blast of agave. It is followed by a dose of black pepper so you will need to enjoy that profile. A good amount of minerality and earthiness. Also very alcohol forward but you can tell it really accentuates the flavors. Cinnamon and mint comes through as well as the citrus notes. Nice long finish but has a bit of alcohol burn that follows.
