Quite spicy for a reposado, these were issued in 2015 . Finished in a Wheated Bourbon Barrel, probably Bernheim Bourbon, a Heaven Hill brand. There is at least one other double barrel reposado issued by Lunazul, a 45% Rittenhouse Rye finished product. Rittenhouse is also a HH brand. Barrel spice, agave, a bit of pepper and a slight buzzing finish from the alcohol. This is quite balanced between sweetness and oak elements.

Very faint aroma, slightly agave. The color is light. Vanilla flavor, a little sweet but not over the top. Finish is not long lasting, which many people will like. This isn't very complex, and doesn't have any dominant characteristics to get excited about, and as a result isn't all that interesting. Drinkable? Yes. I finished my entire glass.

Good sipper for the value. Another review compared it to Don Pilar and I would agree this a less refined version. Would drink again.

Lunazul 2016 Double Oak Reposado, $29 USD (Virginia ABC) Overall: An enjoyable nose that delivers embodies the character from the barrel(s). Reminds me of a less refined version of Don Pilar. The taste starts off on the right foot, but the balance is avliitle off. The finish is a bit short and rough. At $30, this is a good value in a reposado. Aroma: Cooked agave, wiskey, oak, black pepper, with a splash of fruit (apple, pear, melon, and strawberry) up front. Inviting, yet mellow. I love the nose. Taste: Light sweetness, mild oilyness, and the warmth of black pepper and cinnamon. An undeniable oakeyiness. The whiskey and cinnamon override the fruit, bitter orange peel and baking spices. Finish:Very short. Mildly sweet and a lingering cinnamon warmth.

2015 NOM 1513: The aroma is filled with mainly an alcohol smell. Behind that I sense pear (which is interesting) pepper, and bourbon (obviously). As for the flavor, I would say this tequila is out of this world. At $40 for the bottle it compares to some $60 bottles on the flavor side. While the drink is not very smooth, the bite dies out quickly making the finish very nice. Due to the lack of aroma and the harsh bite, I believe it deserves an “average” value rating for its price. Very, very good tequila.

Sweat with mouth burn, syrup feel, slightly bitter finish with citrus peel after taste

Rating for 2016 Rittenhouse Rye. I preferred this to the 2015. The 45% on the Rittenhouse Rye (90proof) bumps this up a notch, and also the flavor is more complex than the 2015, lasting longer on the pallet

Aromas of caramel. Tastes smooth, black pepper on the finish, with slightly sweet caramel notes.

Very light in the glass almost clear. It has a nice taste and little to no burn. Also has a lower price then Herradura Double Barrel Reposado.
