Quite spicy for a reposado, these were issued in 2015 . Finished in a Wheated Bourbon Barrel, probably Bernheim Bourbon, a Heaven Hill brand. There is at least one other double barrel reposado issued by Lunazul, a 45% Rittenhouse Rye finished product. Rittenhouse is also a HH brand. Barrel spice, agave, a bit of pepper and a slight buzzing finish from the alcohol. This is quite balanced between sweetness and oak elements.
No nose, underwhelming taste, hot finish. It was in the well and I had it added it to a Bloody Maria. Served its purpose as a mixer. Not a sipper. Good value for the price point I reckon.
Nose: Oak, vanilla, cocoa, a floral undercurrent and a little bite to the nose. Flavor was a letdown following an interesting initial nosing. Kind of flat with some bitterness.
Mexican release. 38% and $215 pesos. Nose: Thyme, minerals, ripe pitted fruit and a hint of banana. Flavor: Vanilla, caramel, cinnamon red hots and black pepper and jalapeño. Rich mouth feel, and a hint of bourbon.
