I’m tasting agave, oak, sherry, pepper, and honey. This is much darker and bolder than the 5 year, and it brings a slight bitterness from the heavy oak impact. Nice legs.

Outstanding balance of cooked and barrel aged agave. Great finish and nose. Like everything from Patron there is a price

Aroma is floral and sweet with little or no agave present. Very smooth with a nice sweet/spice flavor. The finish has a relatively strong bitter aftertaste. The finish is medium to long. This is a nice XA but compared to any of the Alteña XAs (Ocho, anniversary, etc) tasted last week this one falls short. Also, at ~$250 it is priced above any of those. 12-30-2017

Oak and fruit on nose. Light entry dominated by seven years of oak aging. Turns to bitter cocoa notes in the middle, with a peppery finish. This much age takes much of the tequila personality away, but leaves a very nice whisky experience in its place. The quality of the spirit is apparent in the way it takes the aging.

This is a great aged tequila, quite special in fact. If you're a fan of very oaky tequila, give this a try if you can find it.

Very complex. Lots of Barrel Spice, along w/ some Cinnamon, Black Pepper types spices. Dried Fruits, Cherry, tobacco. Flavors come in waves.

Gotta let this one breath a bit. The nose straight after the pour was whiskey. After 10 minutes I was getting a kind of cherry pitted fruits. Another 5 minutes and there was plenty of agave/cooked plantains. Pallet was thick and buttery. Purchased an oz for $25 in steamboat…which was mistakenly mispriced. I would drink it all night at that price, not at the $68 they had it listed at.

I’ve been fortunate to go through 3 of these bottles. As a brand fan, I was excited to purchase these. Terrific on the nose, oaky, caramel & honey. Warm oak across the tongue rounds out with honey across the palate. I love this bottle, but they are so expensive! The price point is the only downside to this bottle.

My go-to tequila for a top shelf margarita. Delicious alone or as a mixer.

Tasted at Rosa Mexicano at National Harbor, ML in a small tequila sipping glass. Nice golden orange color with heavy tears and no alcohol on the nose. Very smooth, but thinner mouthfeel than expected. Leaves a nice tingle for a long time after sipping. Hard for me to pin down the flavor profile, but regardless, very enjoyable. B++

The wood is obviously the star in this 7 year extra Anejo. Dark copper in color, the slow thick legs coat the glass. Cedar, caramelized banana & vanilla on the nose. Full mouthfeel on entry with lots of butter cake followed by cigar box & leather. The finish again features cedar notes with molasses and wood resin. The slightly astringent resinous finish is the only thing that knocks this tequila down a few points for me personally. Overall a very unique and solid offering in this rare class of extra long aged anejos by Patron. Definitely worth trying and collecting.
