Aroma has loads of sweet agave along with bread dough, mint and wet dirt/mud. Sweet flavor backed with red pepper spice and nuts (almond, hazelnut). Slightly astringent. Finish is medium-long with subtle spice. 12/24/2020 - 8th Annual Xmas XA tasting

Amazingly complex for being aged 10 years. The barrels must be quite played out for this to have the depth of flavor it demonstrates. Seek this out. Thanks Tommy A.

LOT VLEA-004, bottled on 17/07/2015, bottled & inspected by: Blas, tasted on 12-3-23. On the vertical neck label a number 4 is printed, I was told this extra añejo was aged for 4 years. Color: light yellow. Aroma: sweet cooked agave! Resinous sweetness! Cantaloupe, slightly minty, a hint of black pepper, aromatic green vegetal notes. Earthy. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, sweetness is quite aromatic through my retronasal. Finish is medium to medium long, sweet resinous cooked agave with fresh aromatic green vegetal notes persist.

It’s a sweet, caramel taste. I left the tasting cup out the and the next day it smelled like caramel. Very delicious.

Nose: Minerals, cherry, agave, oak, raisins, spices, cinnamon, caramel, Palate: Sweetness, agave oak, earthy flavor with what tastes like minerals from deep well water, black pepper. Nice, medium length finish. Some heat in the middle and the pleasantly finishes with some pepper and lingers on teeth and gums. Gets better with each sip!

Sweet caramel on the nose. Very smooth on the palate not too much burn at all. Really nice.

The nose has strong oak and hints of vanilla, caramel and butter. The palate has strong cooked agave, oak and soft spring flowers. It finishes with citrus and white pepper and the appropriate amount of extra añejo heat.

Oak and smoke in the nose, burnt caramel and black pepper On the palate it is very astringent, can taste the fibres from the tahona wheel, wet stone, burnt caramel, oak and smoke on the palate Would be amazing pairing with a cigar or a burnt end brisket

Smooth. Drank it w/ just 2 small ice cubes from filtered water. Nice spice aroma and taste. Good finish

Absolutely delicious expression of extra Anejo. Wonderful buttery oak nose with a bit of vanilla caramel to round it out. Easily sippable - not too sweet with just a little burn and no bitterness. Nice long finish that leaves one satisfied and interested. One of my new favorite expressions. I'm ready to sample the rest of the Villa Lobos line.

Very smooth as an XA should be. Subtle but acceptable smokiness. Finish is smooth but spicy.

At €39 the price/quality is great. I liked the (subtle) way the flavour changes, starting with a nice agave flavour and evolving into more earthy and wood flavours.

This is a great AX and decent value @ $90. It starts smooth, explodes in your mouth and finishes with a bit of a burn like the rest of the Villa Lobos line.

Light gold in colour. Nice legs that glide down the glass. Lots of vanilla and toffee on the nose. Take a smell from the bottle and you'll get lots of oak. It tastes more like an anejo than an extra anejo. Theres a slight burn that I expect from a tequila by Carlos camarena. Hints slightly towards a cognac on the tongue but the agave comes through as well. Highly recommended.
