Barrel #306 | Aroma: The chocolate note is much more subtle and there is definitely a medicinal quality in this one. Flavor: Again, the chocolate note is there but not as present as in the other single barrels (or just the standard CN Repo). There is also a hint of caramel. Finish: Nice smooth finish that definitely builds. It is mellow to start but as it moves towards your throat it gets stronger.

Barrel #306 | Barrel #306 "Raven & Rose" Aroma is a nice blend of pepper and chocolate. A bit of a medicinal note as well. Surprisingly smooth to begin then a nice peppery blast. The finish is moderate and fills both the mouth and throat with a nice, lingering flavor.

Barrel #246 | Aroma: The notes here are pretty sharp. Definitely a chocolate aroma and is slightly medicinal (which I think accounts for the sharpness). Flavor: It's more pleasing than I was expecting. The chocolate flavor is definitely there but isn't as harsh I was expecting. Finish: nice smooth finish that was much less harsh than I thought it would be.

Barrel #246 | Barrel #246 "Sandoval's Portland" Aroma of chocolate and peppery spice fill the nose immediately. Nice chocolate and vanilla flavor with good supporting spice. Moderate finish carries forward chocolate/vanilla/spice flavors.

Barrel #398 | Barrel #398 "Party Source" Color is much lighter than the #522 and more similar to the Gen3. Aroma of chocolate covered cherries with some vegetal notes. Nice, smooth flavors of chocolate, fruit and subtle spice. Again, the finish is medium to long and lingers in the back of the throat.

Barrel #522 | Barrel #522 from Astor Wine & Spirits Color is much darker than Gen3 or Talavera. Aroma is dominated by chocolate with just hints of cherry and orange. Rich chocolate and oak flavor is very añejo-like. Warm spice is present but not overly dominating. Long finish sits in the back of the throat.

This single barrel, special to Tres in San Francisco, has a beautiful nose of French Oak aromas, singularly focused. The chocolate, vanilla and agave flavors meld nicely. Aged 364 days.

Barrel #522 | Aroma: Overwhelmingly chocolate. It almost reminds me of a CN Anejo in how strong the chocolate note is. It also should be aid that this is much darker than the current CN Repo. Flavor: Follows right in line with the aroma. Super strong chocolate flavor and maybe a slight hint of oak. Finish: The finish definitely builds. Each second you feel like it's going to die down but it continues to get stronger. Even 30 seconds later I can feel it in the back of my throat. Conclusion: This one messes with me a bit. It looks like an Anejo, smells like an Anejo and even tastes a bit like an Anejo. It was good but definitely not what I was expecting.

Barrel #398 | The aroma is very similar to the regular Reposado. It has one distinct scent which is chocolate. I find it much smoother in the nose than the Single Barrel (#246) Reposado. The flavor is pretty subtle. Although you pick up on the chocolate it's not as prominent as the regular Reposado. The finish is smooth but nothing special. This is still a great tequila but I would rather have the regular Reposado.

Deliciously thick and oily, this is a real nice treat if you can find it! I tasted this one at Tres in San Francisco.

very interesting and complex. initial aroma of black pepper and dark bakers chocolate. Smooth and despite the chocolate essence it is not too sweet.

Barrel #522 | Somewhat disappointed. Not that it's a bad sip by any stretch, but it is certainly chocolate bomb of a tequila. Uniqueness style points. I wouldn't pass it up if it was offered, but I don't think I'd go out of my way for it again. Some may love it, but not for me.

Barrel 691. Cotton candy, oak, caramel popcorn, and slight agave on the nose. Also some fresh green vegetable aroma which I can’t quite define. Flavor is very soft agave with wood and warmth dominating. Finish is warm and mild. Lingers in subtle way. The complexity and diminished agave make this more like anejo, and a one-day aging technicality categorizes it as reposado.

Complex reposada with notes of chocolate, caramel and wood. A definite step up from the regular casa noble offering.

aroma: very sweet, a little agave but more like baked goods. slight oak, even some sticky fruits maybe? date? flavor: heavy on the spice and oak. dont get the agave till the back half. whole mouth feel finish: excellent, it goes on and on, doesn't taper as drastically as a Blanco

Aroma: Sweet. Smells like baking agave. Lots of Aroma here. Tiny bit of oak. Flavor: Baked agave. Light oak and vanilla. Spices. Tiny bit of heat. Agave in the back of the mouth. Heat low in the chest. Finish: Lasts for days. Leaves vanilla on the tongue. Fills the whole mouth.
