NOM 1438 Another not great tequila in a pretty bottle. bought it back in 2013 but never rated it so here I am, rating it 02/2023
NOM 1438 | Smells and tastes like vanilla and almond extract, perfect for making a dessert from! I’m not catching any agave, just sweetness which I’m sure endears this to a lot of consumers.
NOM 1438 | Aroma of chocolate and cocoa powder, similar to Casa Noble, but lighter in color.
Bit of bite for an anejo but enjoyable. The bottle is a keeper and helps it score extra!
The finish changes with the third sip, at first more acidic than expected but then mellows to a thick, lingering coat of caramel.
Very peppery, but in a great way that doesn't really start until it is past your mouth and into your throat. First tasted in Zihuatanejo, which certainly enhances the flavor. Must find one of the Picasso painted bottles...
NOM 1437 NOT 1438. Soft barrel aroma with peppery undertone. Caramel and pepper flavor. Surprisingly light on the barrel. Nice warm lingering finish.
NOM 1437 | El material de la botella (no es vidrio, sino cerámica), hace que se evapore el líquido.
NOM 1438 | Aroma - Alcohol forward - followed by oak, baking spices caramel and butterscotch Taste - Black pepper, alcohol , oak, cinnamon, vanilla and caramel I feel like this one is over oaked
NOM 1438 | Very sweet, vanilla and some caramel
Vanilla and an earthy caramel on the nose. Green cactus on the tongue, cinnamon on the finish
NOM 1438 | Lots of vanilla on the nose followed by caramel, butterscotch, spices and oak. The flavor is very sweet & spicy. Caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, and oak. Medicinal, aftertaste and short finish. The bottle is beautiful, unfortunately, the Tequila does not live up to the beauty of the bottle.
NOM 1437 | LOTE TQDR 126, bottled on 1201006, should be year 2006, marbete is from same year. Color: light yellow. Aroma: raw agave, brine, earthy, alcohol sensation is low. Palate: salted agave that turns slightly sweet, light vanilla, alcohol is very low, maybe oxygen has gotten into the bottle and altered the aroma and flavors. Finish is medium short, light sweet agave with earthy notes persist.
nom 1438
Hints of Vanilla Slight pepper on the back side. I would buy again, it was cheap.
NOM 1438 | No Agave on the nose or on the palate...just too sweet for my liking. Too much vanilla and some other kind of sweetness in both nose and taste. Finish is decent for a desert beverage but not for everyday sipping.
Was once upon a time my favorite tequila. Now there are about 10 brands selling this exact juice from NOM1438. From Michael Jordan's stuff to Hussong to ABC's in house brand Tierra Fertil. If you buy the Los Azulejos or Jordan's stuff you are paying for the bottle. Pay 27.99 for ABC's in house brand if you want to try this stuff.
NOM 1438 | Pepper, slight vanilla, little Carmel and chocolate on last few drops in the glass. Finish is ok but relatively smooth
Cake batter forward on the nose. No agave evident in the smell. Vanilla and pepper flavor overpowers the agave. It's a nice drink, it's just not traditional agave forward tequila.
tried it a second time and the aroma changed after letting it breathe: a sweet vanilla tone that can be a great addition at the end of a meal.
NOM 1438 | Lots of caramel and toffee sweetness on the nose. Toasted dark agave notes as well, which carry through and overwhelm the plate. A little too okay and boozy for my palate.
I gave this an 86. I like it. But it says I gave it a 93??
Hints of vanilla and spice, initially smooth but then found this to have a bite and burn after two sips and was disappointed for it being an añejo and the cost.
