Lot 02 | Sampled at Tommy's Mexican Restaurant in San Francisco. Aroma is muted due to age. Flavor is somewhat muted, but still agave forward.

Finish- lingers with no burn, cream soda with vanilla, vegetal and minerals, white pepper and earth tone. Long legs, and long after taste of agave and earth.

Definitely a great tequila. Tried this at the los abuelos/Fortaleza distillery in tequila. Not sure why los abuelos has a higher rating than Fortaleza as it is the exact same product just different labeling... a great tequila non the less!

I feel I make make the same review over and over for this distilleries products......smells and tastes like someone shoved your head into a copper still. Tequila people taking the time to do things right, you never lose sight of the roasted agave.

Los Abuelos Blanco: Lot 60-B. (Fortaleza) I bought this bottle while visiting the distillery in Tequila, Mexico. It’s a beautiful property but this is a tequila review so here I go. On the nose I detect a lot of fresh agave and citrus. I smell lemon and a faint sweet agave finish. The taste is a mouthful of cooked agave, just the way a blanco should be. There is a pleasant white pepper finish. This tequila is well worth the price. FYI: This tequila is branded as Fortaleza in the US.

Lot 12 | Lote 43-B Aroma: Sweet baked agave, bread dough, lemon/lime, baking spice. Taste: Strong agave, hints of bitters and jalapeño and pickling brine, appealing light sweetness, oily in the mouth. Umami elements. Finish: Warms the belly on a cool Jalisco evening. Lingers on and on.

It's a tequila that I revisit often. The lots change a bit but the buttery/ agave aromas stand out in this product. It is a complex tequila that shines in its flavor profile.

Tastes exactly like Fortaleza but that doesn’t mean it isn’t crazy good

Lote 124-B Herbal, slightly sweet cooked agave, clean & crisp. After 30 minutes, it is briny on the palate with black olives, white pepper and the agave sweetness persists. Finish is slightly sour that turns into pure agave sweetness, which is medium to long in length.

Lot 12 | First time Los Abuelos blanco. Good aroma and very good taste. For me the anis was quite dominant in aroma and flavor and abviously the cooked agave as well. Smooth and no burning at all, very long finish. Absolutely worth it‘s price.

Lot:120 picked this up in Rosarito BC. on the nose i get a burst of cooked agave, grapefruit, light lactic notes, wild flower scent, minerals and im also getting slight wood notes. on the mouth you get what your nose defined. a whole lotta agave, lemon zest, peppery on the tounge, light alcohol very bold and warm on the chest (no burn). great mouth cover. finish is solid. light pepper and a rose water linger.

Lot 06 | Slight difference compared to Fortaleza. Must be the blended batches? Baked agave, citrus, minerals and earth in the aromas and flavors. Salty buttery finish. Great complexity

NOM 1493 | As of this review, I'm in San Jose del Cabo. So the price I paid for this particular bottle of tequila at Los Barriles de Don Malaquias was a bargain. Nonetheless, for blanco snobs, Los Abuelos is muy bueno IMHO. Heavy on the Cooked Agave, some pepper, and fruity acidity to roll over the tongue and finish.

I love the tequilas made using the old school methods. Tahona extraction, stone ovens, open air fermentation & copper stills have the best effect on the agave. A little expensive but well worth it.

Aroma is very wild, smells of a Raicilla. Sulfur big time. Acid drives the palate. Interesting but not what I like in Tequilas.

This is the version available in Mexico. In USA it is the Fortaleza label. Nice aroma of agave and yeast. Flavor of agave and black pepper. Long, pleasant finish. Value was based on comparison to other artisanal, tahona offerings.
