Nose: Bright and fresh - agave front and center. A unique herbal or vegetable note, that possesses both crispness, yet buttery caramel nuances. Citrus. Flavor: The elusive herbal note that envelopes the creamy sweet agave, presents prominently in the first tastes. Followed up with cinnamon, clove, anise and pepper. Great in the mouth. It is in fact “Unique”. 2010 tax stamp. A bit pricey - but worthy.

Bottle from El Buho. Tax stamp from 2010. Bottled at 40% ABV. Green vegetal and agave aromas. Nicely viscous in the mouth with buttery roast agave at first sip that flows nicely to pepper and spice. The finish fades to some residual sweetness with a good tip of tongue alcohol buzz. One of the best blancos I have had in a while this has many of the same elements in smell, taste and finish as the really great traditional blancos from Fortaleza, Tapatio and others.

Marbete is from 2007, tasted on 1-14-24. Aroma: light sweet cooked agave, red apple, pear, slightly herbaceous, hint of earthiness, light acidity, spices, sweet & spicy, licorice, the aromas are quite intense and pungent! Palate: confirms aromas perceived, agave honey! Good sweet sour and acidic, fruity balance, aromatic green vegetal notes, clean & crisp. Finish is medium to medium long, light sweet cooked agave, fruity, cinnamon, hint of spices, herbaceous with aromatic green vegetal notes linger!

Très liquoreux pour une blanco. Saveur relevée et finale un peu trop prononcé à mon goût… Embouteillée il y a 15 ans et payé 300 MXN cette semaine, c’est un bargain!!! Salud!
