NOM 1440 | It’s ok. Definitely better out there for the price. Very big alcohol taste with butterscotch/vanilla finish stays for a while

NOM 1467 | This is for the first anejo offering from Cabo Wabo called the Milleno version in a transparent brown bottle . Same legendary Cabo taste with aged barrel notes of whisky or bourbon . Great stuff !

NOM 1440 | Floral nose with hints of honey and leather. Flavors of toasted oak, honey butter, roasted agave and vanilla. Faint citrus. Vanilla custard on the finish.

I didn’t enjoy this as a sipper as much as I enjoy others. It makes a good cocktail.

Enjoyable Anjeo. The nose is buttery and sweet with agave, carmel, oak, vanilla, and pepper up front. Carmel and cinnamon on the back end. On the palate: Slight sweetness, alcohol, and medium burn, but smooth. Not terribly complex, but a very solid sipper. Best of the Cabo line.

NOM 1440 | I didn’t go into this expecting much and I wasn’t surprised at all. It’s not much better than the reposado. The aroma was leather soaked in alcohol. The flavor is pure peppered heat, no sign of mellowing with age. The burn lasts all the way to the stomach. Not a fan.

NOM 1440 | Served chilled at Cabo Wabo Cantina. On the nose there is immediate vanilla, oak, and roasted agave present, intermingled with nutmeg, citrus, and butter. Notes of coconut and cream soda appear after opening up, before finally ending with chocolate and black tea. The flavor was very similar to the nose, with vanilla, oak, and roasted agave all making themselves known early on. The predominant flavor is more of a butterscotch, and underneath that there is some citrus with a dash of white pepper. Buttery coconut and chocolate are also there, before finishing with a bit of an herbal and caramel taste. The finish was fairly short, but well-rounded. This was pretty good for a celebrity tequila!

Smell of alcohol and some light sweet scents. Mostly alcohol, not a good smell. Spicy but not in an alcohol sort of way. Just spice and a slight sweet taste on your lips at the end. Not very good.

NOM 1440 | I like the fruity notes and the sweetness. While it's slightly above average, it has too much alcohol to its smell and a sharp initial finish. It's not bad for something just sitting around, but I wouldn't buy more of it.

My first impression is that this anejo does not have lots of flavor. I wanted to like it because it has a beautiful color. It was on sale for $41 a fifth so to me a bit pricey for not so much flavor. Nice aroma but the after taste has a bit of burn and heavy alcohol taste. I will mix the rest with Kombucha! I would not buy again at the store but I would in a restaurant if it was my only choice among junk tequila that some places have to choose from. Tequila for sipping has not quite caught on in certain places yet. If I go to a place with bad tequila I drink rum straight Instead.

Review #140 - Cabo Wabo Tequila Anejo

I've seen a mixed bag on this one. Some people love it some people hate it. Only one way to find out...
