Agave, lime, and banana on a very light aroma. Tasting agave, banana, grapefruit, vegetal, cinnamon, barely any oak. This is softer than the Blanco and an overall nice sip.

Embajador Premium (Reposado) is aged for eight months in American Oak Tennessee Whiskey barrels. The nose is very pleasant and reminds me of a natural perfume. I detect slight cooked agave and light floral and citrus notes. I also detect an oaked white wine note. I taste the sweet cooked agave first and then some peppery oak on the mid pallet and some caramel towards the finish. It’s well balanced. This is a nice tequila to sip on. Heck it’s almost an anejo. ¡Salud!

On nose- very sweet, very light overall, light caramel, light cinnamon, some oak, light spice, a very light tea presence and vanella cream. On taste- an artificial overly sweet presence with vanilla cream, light mouthfeel, cinnamon, and oak. I realize that much of this overly sweet and sometimes artificially tasting sweetness could be from french oak barrels which they used with American oak.

Nose is quite complex. There are some pungent nuances, lime, butterscotch, pineapple, hierbas finas and earthiness. Flavor: Oily with jalapeños, anise, ripe fruit and vanilla. Some citrus peel as well.

Aroma has some vanilla and caramel which leads to a spicy, pepper taste. I catch a touch of cinnamon but not overwhelming. The finish has a light pepper burn which fits the profile. I enjoyed this more than the Blanco.

Great tequila. Aromas of sweet vanilla cooked agave and caramel. Cinnamon, vanilla, butterscotch in the mouth. The finish is slight vegetal, citrus with baking spice undertones. Paired this with salted dark chocolate carmel and raspberry dark chocolate.

Solid buy for the money. Over all, more spice than the blanco in my opinion. Subtle hints of some vanilla and oak. Larger traces of cinnamon than expected. Very well crafted with a medium oily finish on the palate.

Review #296 - Embajador Tequila Reposado

Mention that a tequila is from NOM 1509 and you immediately have my attention. With gems like Crotalo and Alma in their profile, I would happily try anything that they pump out of the Tequila Embajador, S.A. de C.V. distillery.
