Aroma and flavor of oak, caramel and baked agave. The oak was a bit to dominate for my taste. Medium body and finish.

Batch 503, bottle 281. Strong agave aroma that is almost medicinal (not in a good way). Medicinal character carries over into flavor. For all the heavy/strong aroma and flavor, the finish is surprisingly weak. Some heat lingers at the front of the mouth.

bought this over the 4th of July. what a surprise. for $25, this is definitely worth the price. vanilla, butterscotch, creamy, not much burn at all. i really liked it and for the price will keep buying it. for half the price of Don Julio its a keeper.

Not too bad for the price! Would drink again. Won't go too far out of my way to buy.

I agree with the little tag that came around the bottle’s neck: vanilla and light spice on the nose and finishes smooth and balanced. Fine flavors of caramel and vanilla, I’m also getting a nutty flavor as it finishes...hazelnut? It’s unique for sure and I like it. A fine middle shelf selection.

I prefer the oven cooked tequilas, but I have to say this one is a keeper. It really sticks to the sides of the glass (legs). Oak, cooked agave and butterscotch on the nose. Vanilla, carmel, cinnamon and butter on the palate. Citrus, white pepper and whiskey on the finish.

I prefer Anejo and Extra Anejo tequila , this reposado has a nice aroma , but drinks with a bitterness , improves as it warms , but might make a better premium mixer for Margarita's.

Citrus with slight oak on the nose. Subtle caramel. Complex for $27 here in AZ. A personal favorite.

Batch 615. light amber color, a little thin but leaves tears and has legs. Nice nose for a repo, wood, caramel, vanilla, cooked agave and a hint of alcohol. Taste is spicy and a little fruity, warms on the way down. Finish stays for a few. Nice value and bottle is sexy.

Definite Scotch qualities (e.g. Smoke, earth, mild vanilla notes).

Decent nose with agave notes evident but not overpowering. Nose gets better the more time it sits in the glass. After 10 min I started detecting a scent similar to baked cookies - bread, sugar, chocolate. Gently sweet flavor with mild oak and green wood. Long slightly tangy finish.

Tasted in Shreveport, LA at Nicky's Mexican Restaurant in a white wine glass. Fairly light colored Reposado with quick tears. Nose is nice, smooth with hints of citrus and butterscotch and almost no alcohol aroma. Light agave flavor with wood tones and vanilla and caramel undertones. A bit bitter on the finish, but the finish hangs on for a while which I like. Overall, this is a nice repo. B

Review #225 - El Mayor Tequila Reposado

El Mayor is an interesting brand. Great bottle, good distribution, widely varying pricing...and opinions that are all over the map.
