Ummmm. Awful. Aroma isn’t bad but after that…yuck. Taste is harsh and chemical. There’s a bubblegum/cotton candy taste that is terrible. The finish is hot and harsh. No gracias.

I'd only recommend this as a bottom shelf inexpensive mixer.

NOM 1103 | Good tequila for mixing at a budget. Lacks agave aromas and flavor falling short for a sipper.

NOM 1440 | Unique nose: Minerals, herbs, and vegetal notes as would be found in a root cellar. Flavor starts a bit hot, with herbs, agave and some bitters. Finishes somewhat hot and bitter on the back of tongue. A touch of anise.... Finishes lingers.

Medium body. Green agave and citrus aroma. A black pepper and green agave flavor. Somewhat sweet and slightly bitter with a modest finish

Considering this comes from the San Matias distillery, this is a very disappointing blanco. An acrid nose and slightly sour flavor. It may mix okay into a margarita, but not for sipping.

Muted agave aroma (vegetal, grassy). Pepper bomb of flavor (not necessarily in a good way). Lingering pepper finish sits right at the front of the mouth.

Hot, pear, vegetal, and almost like a Bourbon aftertaste.

NOM 1440 | Mexican 40% abv. version, lote: 05/LOTE/015, bottled on 19/JUN/2006, marbete is from 2004, tasted on 9-1-24. Aroma: light sweet cooked agave, light licorice, light acidity, citrus, good sweet sour and citrus balance, hint of earthiness, light cucumber and light green vegetal notes, hint of white pepper spiciness, after 20 minutes in the glass white floral aromas emerge and the cooked agave sweetness becomes quite intense, clean and not cloying. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, despite being bottled more than 18 years ago the aromas and flavors are still lively and intense. White floral aromas through my retronasal. Light pepper spiciness. Finish is medium to medium long, light sweet cooked agave, citrus, light green vegetal notes with white floral aromas persist.

Nose: Ethanol and pepper blast at first. Followed by a little agave. Palate: I’m first hit with an ethanol note right out of the gate. Roasted agave, maybe a little bit fruity, vegetal and pepper to wrap thing up. Very long, somewhat bitter pepper finish. Not super sweet w that agave note, vegetal note lingers for a bit. Overall a mediocre blanco, good as mixer.

NOM 1440 | Long neck bottle from original distillery. Lots of great blanco flavors , agave, pepper, fruit. Smells and tastes great . Why did it change and have to move . Not so great anymore, so find and drink these original bottles.

NOM 1103 | Nose is slightly off putting, varnish and some ‘oak’. On the palette you do get much more agave, appreciate that it isn’t overly sweet although you can tell that it might have some additives. This finishes dry but with what I would perceive to be oak flavouring. Lots of bright spots but overall missing components to round it out.

NOM 1103 | Corazon Blanco I like. It’s very soft and charmingly neutral - like a conversation with Hugh Grant on a political matter upon which he is not well-informed. It’s not top shelf, but it’s great for the price point.

NOM 1103 | Tequila choice for Coachella. Tough nose, some agave. Peppery taste with a hot finish. Not terrible for the price of the bottle but there are better values out there.

Review #181 - Corazon de Agave Tequila Blanco

I had a bottle of this back in the day when it was NOM 1440 and I didn't like it at all. Now that it's years later and has a new NOM, I figured I'd give it a try again.
