Got this as a gift because no doubt the person that bought it for me thought the name was cute. While drinkable, I still can't get my "Gift Shop Brand" perception out of my mind as I drink it. Will save for company and in laws that don't know any better. Would be better mixer than most popular $25 brands and flavor would push through a bit more. Also has a hint more character than those brands.
Lots of bourbon flavours going on here, spicy and sweet with a ton of backbone. Not an obvious progression from the reposado, I’ve gotta go to the distillery and get to the bottom of this.
Carmel and vanilla notes
NOM 1499 | Old NOM 1499. This is a definite sleeper. Such a great sipping anejo with a great nose with so many aromas. Nose: cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, oak, cinnamon, baking spices, vegetal, some jalapeño even. Palate: cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, oak, cinnamon, buttery, and minerals. A bargain anejo that is a very enjoyable sipper and a complete sleeper.
NOM 1570 | I love this anejo. My Kentucky friends would love its bourbon character. Very smooth sipping. Caramel and vanilla. This is delicious.
NOM 1570 | Bottle: Illegible markings Appearance: Light tea Nose: Vanilla, oak, alcohol, cinnamon, honey, tobacco, leather, solvent, and jalapeño…not bad, but no agave Palate: Alcohol, artificial sweetener, vanilla, cinnamon, jalapeño, varnish, fake fruit, and acetone…harsh and unenjoyable Finish: Mouth-numbing and (fortunately) short…grain-spirit intensity and minimal flavor Finish: This is what I imagine barrel-rested Everclear would taste like if there had been some old candy machine candy dissolved into it. I don’t pick up any agave and it was certainly harsh, but it wasn’t so bad I couldn’t finish the drink.
NOM 1570
NOM 1570 | I was hoping for more for an Añejo and their relationship with Total Wine & More. Not too expensive by any means, but I expected more for the price point compared to others in the same range.
additive free, and not a bad tequila. Sips well it's a little hot and peppery but still has a touch of vanilla and caramel and of course some oak notes
Some caramel and vanilla on nose. Noticeable smoke, anise, and clove on flavor. Agave seems to be lost. Not the most complex but a great price (under $35) for an anejo with a specific profile that can work well in drinks or sipped on its own from time to time.
Good but not great tequila. Positive price point. Yup vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, pepper flavor. On fence whether would buy again.
On the nose I got caramel, cinnamon, vanilla and agave after I rested it to let the neck pour breathe a bit. Good thing I did. On the pallette, agave, vanilla, oak, orange, and yet more alcohol. finish was cinnamon and alcohol.
NOM 1570 | The aroma is nice. A little hot cinnamon and hit of alcohol. Smooth sip with pepper and maybe a touch of butter. Smooth warm burn. After taste is pleasant with sleight alcohol warmth. Good mixer in a Baja lemonade. .
tastes and smells more like a weak bourbon. not unpleasant but not great either. not a bad budget option or for someone's first Añejo especially for being additive free.
3 Amigos seems to have an alcohol sharpness in all its expressions. This one was more of what I expect with añejo where more wood, slight sweetness, but not an anejo that I would reject, but I would choose it over, for example, lunazul.
NOM 1570 | This tequila has a very good aroma and it has a bit of a bite after taste but a very good tequila for the price. I would definitely drink it again.
NOM 1570 | Weird chemical taste. Terribly bitter chemical flavor followed by an artificial vanilla and caramel. Has a nice cinnamon finish but it’s not worth enduring the chemical and bitter wood to get there.
NOM 1499 | One of those “I guess I’ll try a sampler from Total Wine” picks. Not much happening here, it’s a very mild añejo with vague notes of (fake?) caramel, pepper, and cinnamon. Decent mouthfeel but it’s too hot and sweet for my liking overall. The agave isn’t coming through either. There are plenty of others I’d buy before a full-size bottle of this.
Hints of vanilla on the nose that lessens on the taste and finish. There is some oilyness with the mouthfeel but that is where you get the artificial taste. Just a very odd product line.
NOM 1499 | Not much complexity here quick agave smell and taste and then it recedes to very light vanilla finish is very peppery
On the nose: Faint aroma of alcohol, carmel, and cinnamon. Very unremarkable. On the tongue: Light carmel and buttery, with a silent burn up front. Struggle to find depth in the mid palate. A mild pepper finish. I would skip this anjeo.
NOM 1499 | The flavor profile started off well above the price point. But the finish was terrible. Lingering bad aftertaste that left you wondering if something was actually wrong with this batch.
This one I enjoyed most from the blanco & reposado. Much more complexity. Buttery, carmel an citrus in the aroma. More carmel, cinnamon and fruit in the taste. The finish lingers some what but turns bitter after a while. Must be that lime? I'm guessing there are additives?
NOM 1499 | Aroma Alcohol followed by oak. Taste Alcohol followed by oak and artificial sweetness.
My last review in the 3 Amigos lineup. Thus far, I've found them all to be very nice and well priced tequilas. Let's hope the anejo follows in line.

NOM 1570 | Nose: Medium body oak and vanilla. Some cooked agave. Cherry, dried cherry, red fruit, and plum. Mild black tea and herbs hiding beneath. Palate: Medium body and mouth feel. Good viscosity. Cooked agave with general depth. Oak, vanilla, with leather and mild honey. Fruit on the mid palate. Cherry with red apple. This is a generally nice pour. Additive free is a big plus but the price tag is higher than I’d like.
