NOM 1545 | A muted nose, a burst of flavor on the first sip, caramel, vanilla, light spice and barrel notes. A long pleasing finish of a nutty character

This is number 200 for me. I tend to really like Calle 23. This one is rated lower than I expected by my peers but I find it quite tasty. Nose is a little dull. I get agave and oak and vanilla and caramel like you would expect. Not much else. On the palate, it think it explodes with flavor. Yes, I get agave and the barrel notes but I also get butter and honey and almonds. The finish is nice. Yes, I’ll have another one please.

NOM 1545 | Nose: agave cooked / vanilla/caramel / hint of lactic/ hint of butterscotch/ vegetal-olive / banana/ baking spices/ nutmeg/ molasses Taste: sweet agave cooked / vanilla / caramel/ cinnamon/ banana/ baking spices/ molasses/ cream soda Finish: watery wet finish mouthfeel/ lingering caramel vanilla agave grenade….nice bold flavors, just not ‘bomb’ level, nice cohesive balanced flavor through the whole taste This reposado is very good, but just seems to lack the X factor of the rest of the Calle 23 expressions….but to call this the worst expression of Calle 23 would be a huge compliment to other bottles.

NOM 1545 | 2nd night: The aroma carries the familiar floral essence reminiscent of the Blanco, accompanied by notes of oak, cooked agave, and a subtle hint of salinity. Raisin, molasses, and alcohol contribute to its entirety with pronounced scathing ethyl and sarsaparilla. On the palate, flavors of cooked agave and potent minerality take center stage, complemented by nuances of caramel, cooked sweet potato, and salinity. The floral tones persist, along with hints of alcohol, cream soda sarsaparilla, and light cocoa. The finish is characterized by a gentle pepperiness and lingering salinity, which intertwine with notes of cooked agave, earthiness, and minerality.

A good amount of vanilla on the nose. Tasting vanilla, oak, and (light) red hots. It’s an easy sipper that would be welcoming to newbies for the sweet notes and short finish.

NOM 1545 | NOM 1545 The Repo is a step up from the blanco with some natural sweetness, baking spices, and a hint of cinnamon and caramel. Easy to sip, not complex, enjoyable. The Anejo is the winner of the NOM 1545 expressions in my opinion.

NOM 1545 | Nose of oak and sweet vanilla with cooked agave. Light consistency and flavor with a sweet finish, has significant barrel influence for a reposado.

NOM 1545 | Aroma: Vibrant nose. Abundant agave and lively barrel spices. Grilled pineapple and citrus, and a creamy vanilla soda aroma. The scent you pick up from a hot, dusty sidewalk after a summer rain. A vague note of yeastiness. Cedar shavings? Flavor: Vanilla and toffee, with a punchy mid tongue black pepper blast. Full of fruitiness, agave and creaminess. Finish holds some bitterness- but not to the level of a flaw. A warm, velvety, longish finish. Another nice sip in the series.

Scent is a mix of baked agave and ethanol. I wish there was less alcohol in the nose. A hearty viscous body but for whatever reason I get a hint of smokiness similar to mezcal. However, at $27 a bottle its an outstanding value. Would recommend to sip or mix as I did both.

NOM 1545 | Mexican 40% abv. versión, lote: L1760D2L1, bottled on 22-07-2020, tasted on 4-19-24. Color: light yellow. Aroma: cooked agave with a hint of sweetness, light acidity, slightly herbaceous, hay, hint of vanilla and hint of wood note. Ends slightly dry. Through my restronasal I smell a hint of dry anise sensation. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, creamy and buttery. Finish is medium to medium long, cooked agave with a hint of sweetness, hint of fermenting cooked agave, hint of vanilla with a hint of wood note persists.

Aroma: cooked agave, alcohol, low vanilla Flavor: this is my favorite part, very well balanced between tequila and wood notes, very drinkable makes you want to have another sip. Finish: more black pepper than cinnamon but ends clean, nice aftertaste Overall: I would say very good especially compared to many of the mainstream popular tequilas like patron casamigos etc.. they come in right around the same money and this is definitely a better value. You can drink this one straight up or in a mix and either way you'll have a smile on your face.

Calle 23 Reposado Thoroughly enjoyed this affordable ($41) sipper. Cooked agave, fruity, black pepper, cedar, and barrel spices. The nose is more evolved than the palate, yet both are extraordinary. A mild sweetness oak bitterness and peppery bite strike a wonderful balance. This is a beautiful spirit.

A Pleasant Tequila Stroll Down Calle 23

Cask has a nice, well-edited selection and I came home with a brand I’d never seen before called Calle 23. The sales lady said that the tequila was created by a French scientist and the reposado was the most carefully crafted. Needless to say, I was intri
