A lot of different flavors going on here but not a lot of depth. It's a perfectly fine blanco for the price.

NOM 1545 | Nose: agave sweet / cinnamon: / hint of fruit / vanilla/ hint of lime / anise / tea / orange blossom/ hint of cream soda Taste: BIG sweet agave cooked / BIG cinnamon / earth / orange peel / hint of apple / lime / orange / licorice / spearmint/ cream soda. / salt-brine/earth Finish : watery wet very low viscous mouthfeel/ lingering sweet agave and cinnamon / some spearmint notes lingering offer a minty freshness/ A very enjoyable finish that brings the sweetness to the forefront and has a harmonious balance throughout the entire taste. There is a slight bittersweet note on the very end of the swallow. This blanco has a lot going for it, though the nose is weak compared to the very big agave and cinnamon palate punch you get on the front part of the sip. There’s a slight bittersweet ending that has an earthiness to it that might not work for everyone’s palate. The tradeoff for that is the very sweet first part of the sip.

NOM 1545 | NOM 1545. I get some clay and raw agave on the nose. Rich mouthfeel, a little pepper, short finish. Easy to sip, but not complex. The Anejo is my favorites expression.

NOM 1529 | From my first initial pour, no resting: The aroma reminds me of champagne. Strong almond aroma, cherries, banana, caramel, vanilla. The agave aroma blends so well with the rest that this one of the most deliciously floral blancos I’ve ever inhaled. The taste of the agave punches on the tongue followed by earthy pepperiness, green apple, fruit, smoke and nuttiness. Jalapeno comes to my mind as well. The finish has an anise and pineapple-esqe taste to me as it fades and linger. I scored this at a pre-covid price but at the current price I still think it’s worth every cent.

NOM 1545 | Nose: Not a real fuerte nose, but a small initial blast of pepper and cinnamon. Some light colored tree fruit and faint vanilla. Agave front and center. Followed up with herbs, wet grass and minerals. Flavor: Pepper heat, some salinity, buttery, silky agave with the faintest bit of bitters. A touch of almond cream? Finish: Medium long caramelized agave and pepper notes. A pleasant sip.

This was a nice, light juice with raw agave, pepper, citrus, vegetal and herbs like mint. The agave was present with pepper, cucumbers and cinnamon.

My only gripe is a little too much alcohol in the scent. Daily oily body, minty peppery flavor and that spicy kick typical of a highland blanc that lingers on your tongue. Awesome deal for $23

NOM 1545 | I’ve read lots of good things about this one but idk this kinda had an almost too sweet artificial lingering aftertaste like cotton candy. I wanted to like this one more too but it’s just not the one for me at least.

The first time I tried this was at Fortaleza distillerie. Right after the distillerie tour, they offer a taco shack on-site with a tequila bar on the side. This bottle was there and it was amazing. Later I purchased in California and review has gone down. Maybe a different batch but it lacks complexity. Too bad.

Blanco Tequila: The Great Divide

While the panel’s favorites were complex, elemental and intriguing, we were troubled by a lack of intensity in many of the bottles as well as by a sense of artificiality in some. As Florence put it, we found a great divide between those tequilas we liked
