Tasted this blind for a Fuerte Friday bracket. I got sweet agave on the nose along with mineral, earthiness, floral, peppermint and alcohol. Fairly pleasant nose. On the younger I get a blast of sweet cooked agave followed by an alcohol burn. This is a 108 proof. I’m also getting cinnamon, citrus, brine, earthiness and orange and maybe pineapple. The finish is sweet but a little overpowering with alcohol. This is a pretty good high proof for the price category we are running it in.
Nose: agave / pepper / earth / citrus / peppermint / mineral/ floral Taste: smooth sweet agave / cinnamon/ citrus / pineapple/anise Finish: smooth as silk / low viscosity but enough to give a great mouthfeel / lingering sweetness with some alcohol on the end of the experience This still strength blanco has a fantastic front palate smoothness, sweetness, and has a very enjoyable taste experience. The nose notes are good, but it’s the tastes that make this budget bottle a mixer or sipper. There’s a touch of alcohol on the very end, but otherwise this still strength uses the high abv to truly drive home a flavor experience.
On the nose, very rich agave, some citrus. Almost nutty. On the palate, absolute agave explosion, cinnamon, slightly vegetal in a really nice way. Medium-long and clean finish. Coming back to it, I’m getting a little brine. Very interesting and tasty. This is what carrera should be, even the 80pf made from this was nowhere near this caliber. This is a high proof that I think anybody who likes high proofs will enjoy.
jan 11, 2024 - tried the entire lineup at tequila town in San jose del cabo. I enjoyed the still strength the best
Was pleasantly surprised by the flavor and complexity of this one. Drinks like less than a 108 proof. Very good.
Was not a fan, says it is addictive free, but was overly sweet, not a lot of agave notes.
Nose: Peppery. Sweet spices. Vanilla, nutmeg & the scent of baby powder. Citrus bite on the nose. Minerals. Green agave. An artichoke/vegetal note in the background. Flavor: A blast of pepper and cinnamon on the first sip, which trails off fairly quickly leaving anise and sweet agave. Nice oily texture. Gentle brininess balances the unctuousness. The peppery note reappears, and joins forces with the ethanol, registering significant levels on the Scoville scale. Sweetness throughout. Borderline cloying aftertaste. Grapefruit pith on the finish.
This blanco SS is really well made and is a pure agave bomb in aroma and taste, along with some baking spices, white pepper, olive (briny), sweet citrus and orange peel. It also possesses a Los Altos petrichor, balanced minerality and buttery sensation. Finish is also very pleasant. Sampled a very tiny amount (.5 oz), but definitely want to revisit again.
Just starting … nose: fresh agave, vegetal, floral , minerality, fresh water source, some citrus melon….taste: little heat, bitter sweetness, cooked agave comes through but it’s not the first thing I taste, grapefruit, slightly meloactic but not off putting … nice finish, just enough to let you know it’s a HP. Well done.
Just wow the taste of agave right up front and stays the entire time. Nose- for it to be 54proof there’s no alcohol on the nose. It’s a very subtle but interesting cooked agave (baking spices), little citrus (pineapple), slight minerals, little meloactic . But agave agave agave. Taste- very much similar to the nose. Nice cooked Agave right up that last throughout, some citrus, black pepper, molasses, a tad bit of anise but it all hides well behind the agave presence. This has a medium to long finish with a nice thick viscous mouthfeel
Strong agave aroma. Strong flavor with lots of agave and spice. Long spicy finish.
This is a very good still strength. This one has a lot going on. To me it was a very pleasant unique nose and flavor. Vegetal floral with some mineral and earthiness. In the finish I get citrus and a little pepper.
On the nose a get a punch of alcohol but if you let it sit for 5 minutes you will get an explosion of crisp minetality and cooked agave. I get a beautiful note of pineapple and cinnamon. On the pallet I get a punch of agave, a punch of a fruit that reminds me of pineapple and apple followed by cinnamon. The finish is long with warmth cinnamon. Wow beautiful after taste! This is my top 3 high proof blanco!!
Nose: Earthiness, vegetal, mineral, citrus, black pepper, alcohol, agave, of course, and maybe some cinnamon? The difference between initial pour and opening up for even just a few minutes is night and day. Mouthfeel is very light-bodied. Palate/Finish: Agave and citrus and those same vegetal notes from the beginning. On the finish, I got lots of Agave, cinnamon, and black pepper with a bit of orange peel
LOT: CTB064 View: totally transparent. Light tears for a 108. Freshly served; Aroma: sweet herbal and mineral, but it has a smell that I identify as a high-pressure autoclave, just like the normal white. Taste: lots of sweetness, cooked agave, a little pineapple and the autoclave that appears in the aroma is also found here. Aftertaste: autoclave, pineapple and black pepper. I let it open for 20 minutes. Aroma: opened to sweetness, but the autoclave is still present. Citrus lemon type, cooked agave. Flavor: lots of sweetness, cooked agave, pineapple. Aftertaste: pineapple and black pepper. In general it is a good tequila, it is sweet and complex, at a reasonable price, but that autoclave hint ruins the experience for me.
On the nose: Bright, citrus, minerals, earth and spice On the palate: Agave, cinnamon and earthy mineral
Carrer's high proof is excellent. A really good sipping high proof. You need 3 sips to get used to the proof. Once your pallet is acclimated, the mouth feel is complex, bold, funk and a nice flowery agave sweet finish Medium finish. I get chocolate/coco, funk, citrus, earth on the nose. Surely different than others. Nice finish. Highly recommend this high proof blanco. It can't be beat for the money. Carrera did a great job with this one.
Lote: CTB056, bottled on 16-06-2023, tasted on 2-2-24. Aroma: light sweet cooked agave, light earthiness, hint of fruitiness, light acidity, light citrus. Light green vegetal notes. Hint of black pepper. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, black pepper and fruity notes are more intense on the palate, cooked agave notes are also sweeter on the palate. Finish is medium to long, light sweet cooked agave with a hint of fruitiness, light black pepper and acidic notes persist.
Revisited 7/19/24: it must’ve been the bottle I tried previously. But super solid. Definitely more on the herbaceous/mineraly side. Man, this tequila disappointed me. The nose was absolutely incredible, just loads of cooked agave followed by some cinnamon, minerals, stewed citrus, and wet earth. I was really excited to taste it. Then I tasted it… I got a rush of semi sweet cooked agave but that flavor was quickly overcome by this excessive salty/minerally flavor (think of sea water and I love minerality in my tequilas!) alongside a very hot and astringent flavor/finish. And I am a high proof/cask strength type of guy, but it was way out of balance. I did let it breathe for 10, 20, 30, and 60 minutes. Letting it breathe did release some of that heat and exposed more agave flavor but that astringency was hard to not notice. I’ll need to revisit as I may have gotten a bad batch.
Heavy agave taste and aroma. Has a faint aftertaste that's sweet, almost like corn liquor. Reminds me of mezcal in a way, but not smokey. The earthiness is definitely there, light citrus and a minerality with brine. Such an intense tequila! fantastic all the way around. This tops my choice so far with still strength/high proof tequila. I'm going to stock up on this stuff
Aroma has some sweet citrusy, lime notes. Agave. Taste is more of roasted agave, brine, lime peel. Cinnamon! Sweet and very balanced heat. Overall tastes lighter than 54% and so very enjoyable.
Aroma was very earthy, fresh grass, minerality, baking spices. Palette was very funky vegatal, subtle agave sweetness and baking spices. Lots of pepper up front, my tongue was tingling for a while. It’s not bad but not great. Expected so much more for how much it’s hyped by Tequila Hombre. It’s a good value for high proof by nothing mind blowing flavor wise.
agave forward, love it high proof but it's an amazing find. cost is good underrated.
Good highproof blanco tequila. But for me, it felt innocuous and uninteresting.

Very vegetal nose and palate. Nice pepper finish. Don’t love it
