Big bold flavours, nose reminds me of pineapple mixed with oak and agave. Great ocho expression but not sure if the value is there, still very enjoyable and would not turn it down.

Aroma is cinnamon, coconut, & vanilla but the roasted agave still manages to shine through for me. The flavor is exactly what I would expect and the rum influence is a compliment. Definitely buy again!

Tropical is aged in rum casks from Fiji, Trinidad & Grenada with 45.8% ABV. Flavors include chocolate, coffee, cherry, honey, lavender, licorice, and white pepper. Some bitters on the finish.

Barrel Select “Tropical” was aged for 12 months in rum barrels. Bottled at 45.8%. Nose: Bright fruit notes. Mexican ciruelas, prunes, berries, cherries and green bananas. Vivacious jerk spices: cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, white pepper and anise. A touch of underlying molasses and vanilla. Flavor: Kick butt spiciness, but wrapped in vanilla and nutmeg creaminess. It has that tropical breeze rum roundness vibe. Natural sweetness plays nicely with the peekaboo agave presence. Some butterscotch and anise make their appearance a little later - as do some bitter notes. A salt and pepper undercurrent. Finish has a nice retro hale aspect to it - but the last impression of bitterness detracts a point or so... A bold profile.

Was able to taste this in Puerto Vallarta of all places and it was a treat. Thank you Diego at Agave liquors! tropical night be influenced by the name but I caught pineapple, fruit, vanilla on the nose. finish was well balanced with a good mouth feel. solid tequila expression!!

Nice oily mouth feel. Lots of long legs on the glass. Rum cask aging is very subtle. Some tropical notes with agave still very present. Some sweetness, peppery heat. Long earthy finish with quite a bit of anise buzzing around on the gums and a pinch of mint.

From this release, Tropical was my least favorite. Aroma is excellent with banana and coconut influences, agave forward and spices nuances. Flavor was not what I expected, finishes up with a medicinal/briny finish.

Definitely brings the heat and a little numbness. Agave comes through on the nose nicely. My least favorite of the 3 but still a joy to sip

Was lucky enough to find two bottles of this. The nose is slightly different than a typical añejo. I get plenty of cooked agave, lots of caramel, fruitiness, and some dark sugar like molasses or demerara. The palate is where things get interesting - cherry, banana, pepper, salinity, anise, and baking spices all show up on top of the other notes. This has an extremely thick mouthfeel and it’s probably the sweetest additive-free tequila I’ve tasted. Both of these things make it very easy to drink for a high proof, and there’s a fruity, Jamaican-rum-type funk on the finish that I appreciate. This is really good stuff.

the 45.8% ABV is present throughout, but doesn't take away from aroma and flavor. aroma is solid with dried cherries, firm banana, anise, cinnamon. maybe some nut in there too. really like this aroma, but also realize it isn't as agave forward on the nose as I like - but so good, makes me not miss it as much as I thought I would. and yes, can't forget the white pepper heat. flavor leads with the dried cherries and firm banana. anise and spice (cinnamon, baking spice), nice dose of olive brine, vanilla, and a good (not from a mix) Chinese restaurant Zombie comes through on the retro hale and finish. cooked agave only shows up on the finish for me, but I knew because of the barrel, it wasn't going to be at the forefront. that shows the influence of the rum barrels. the 45.8% abv works here for me. is it the prototypical anejo? No, but we know Carlos Camarena has nailed that already. this is a fun twist on it. Salud to Tomas Estes on these limited edition barrel select anejos

Sweet aroma. The tropical comes through more on the aroma than anything. Flavor is primarily agave with hints of sweetness from the rum barrels. Finish is a bit stronger than expected. I find it similar to the regular Anejo with a touch more sweetness coming from the rum barrels.
