Nose: Deep rich from the start. Clear oak, cooked agave, vanilla and whiskey jumps out of the glass. Fruit then emerges with cherry, peach, and red fruits. Palate: Heavy rich nice mouth feel. Oak, vanilla, deep caramel, and cooked agave. Fruits of dried cherry, coconut and berry. Whiskey barrel influence for sure. This is a fantastic pour. I absolutely love their use of brand new whiskey barrels! No additives and jam packed with great favor and richness. For $50, this is a clear buy. I will definitely be getting another bottle after I deplete my current one.
Great añejo. Great nose, agave honey, cinnamon, nutty, dried fruit, cherry, etc. Palate is matched superbly and gets more complex as the minutes pass. Extra points for price point. Quite possibly the best añejo for under 50 bones! An experienced palate would really appreciate this one!
Need to revisit small sample
Aromas: Bell pepper, orange peel, with a sour and yeasty (?) funk Flavors: Agave, pepper, bitter oak, slight metallic finish It’s just ok.
Lightly sweet, cherry, dried fruit notes. Nice mouth feel and finish. Good price, great bottle
A little funk on the nose with minimal agave. Palate is soft, some vanilla and soft agave. Finish is decent. Not amazing. A decent Añejo after opening. I like it better after it has opened. Further pours note there’s a sweetness on the palate.
Taste- Cooked agave, oak, pitted fruit, licorice (bitterness), little vanilla, smoke (almost similar to a scotch) And light pepper on the backend.
Solid anejo. Light hand on the oak, which I appreciate. Long finish. Not super memorable in any respect but a very well made spirit. And a very affordable price in todays aged tequila market.
I can smell the cooked agave, sweet oak and a floral note. I then taste agave, toasted oak, caramel, spicy vanilla and some smoke in the midpalate. The finish is nice. There is pepper and a viscous mouthfeel which helps the finish to slightly linger. Overall the Anejo is the most complex of the 3 expressions. It’s complex but nowhere close to overwhelming. Well done Insólito! 2nd tasting - Half bottle The bottle opened up some and I increased the rating by a 2 points. Salud!
Solid pour. A lot of barrel influence across smell, taste and color. Cooked agave isn’t as prevalent as I’d like for an Añejo, but it’s slightly there with regard to sweetness. Lots of sweet oak and a bit of leather and earthiness. For the price, it’s a solid introductory Añejo for the bourbon lover making the switch to Agave spirits.
Vessel: Glencairn Glass Nose: Cooked Agave Oak, Honey, Vanilla, Grass, Raw Agave, Smoke Body: very light bodied Palate: Oak, Nutmeg, Black Pepper, Citrus Finish: Cinnamon, Grass, Raw Agave, Bell Pepper
Nice taste. Pretty smooth. I thought a great value at $46 bucks. If you see it at that price well worth it. I recommend trying. No additives which is a plus for sure!
Insolito was not bad. It has a very strange sweetness I can’t pin point, but the aromas are nice. Some roasted fruit and lots of oak. Probably wouldn’t buy it again, but would drink if offered.
Really not a lot going on here on the nose or palette for me. Goes down easy so it’s good for those getting into additive free Anejos. However, for what it is, great price point and I could see gifting to a non tequila addict or having at a party.
It's more barrel influence but still very sweet. just not for me
Soft, warm, and subtle with a touch of sweetness to it. Agave forward as a pure tequila should be with soft oak, subtle vanilla, light citrus, and vegetal notes. I bought a bottle of Añejo for $50 and I'm shocked how fantastic it is. At this price point it has no business being this damn good. My go to tequilas are El Tesoro, G4, Mijenta, Suerte, and Fortaleza. This is every bit as good and will definitely be included in my rotation from now on.
This is clean classic tequila. I really appreciate the classic no frills drink. It does bring some cherry kick that’s really nice and clean agave finish. I can drink some more.
Nose: Oak, Vanilla, Agave, Cinnamon, Pepper Palate: Vanilla, Oak, Agave, Cinnamon, Pepper Finish: Great Flavor for a celebrity Tequila, little burn, smooth def a bottle to keep on shelves
In the nose you can already tell it’s full bodied and smoky. I got caramel and cherry in the bouquet as well. In the mouth full bodied confirmed! The caramel comes in along with that aforementioned cherry plus oak, yet still a very fresh and fruity feel. Definitely one to have neat, share only with those who can appreciate it, and if so, do your best not to finish the bottle in one sitting. But then again the value is great so wtf buy another bottle.
Wow! Talk about a sweet anejo. This anejo has substantial barrel influence & a TON of sweetness imparted by the new American oak char. I’m tasting a lack of agave, which is disappointing, but the barrel notes are alive & well. Caramel, cinnamon, spice, vanilla, maple, and red fruits. Mouth feel is nothing to write home about, but this anejo does have a very fragrant oaky aroma to it. This is a sweet anejo, a bit much for my taste, but I’m sure many will enjoy this offering from Insólito.
Vanilla and caramel to the nose, citrus like finish. Excellent value
Great oak, vanilla, and pepper aroma.
Oak Finish - typically like a pepper finish
Tres Leches, oak, steamed agave, green
