Finally, a collaboration that actually takes on some character of the previous cask!!! Loads of Scotch here mid palette, it mingles really nicely with the sweetness already present in DJ’s house style. I 100% guarantee you could put this in front on any Scotch drinking and get a positive review. Nice collaboration, hopefully whoever dreamed this up has more to come.
I love smokiness and french oak, so this was a winner all around for me.
This nose is a pleasant mix of cooked agave, butterscotch, caramel, whiskey barrel and alcohol vapors. I taste the whiskey barrel first and then the cooked agave. I then taste some citrus and pepper. The finish is pleasantly nice and long. There isn’t any harshness. Overall this is a very complex reposado that tequila and whiskey fans can appreciate. ¡Salud!
Good sipping. Wouldn't make it a go to, but if there want something I liked better available, I'd choose it.
Aroma - scotch, Flavor - roast agave, peat, smoke Finish - dry but smooth
Strong presence of whiskey and a lot of alcohol. If you are a fan of whiskey you’ll adore this one. Didn’t get much other taste other than cooked agave and oak.
Fantastic whiskey undertones perfectly balanced to give their reposado a unique taste. Don't like how the stores are catching on the the trend of these unique offerings and up- charging. Like this one much better than the Lagavulin.
Not a huge scotch drinker, but I bought this for a friend who is- the aroma, flavor and finish was quite good. Very smooth - I think I might need a bottle for myself now.
Not over the top sweetness. I can't compare it to whiskey, because I have never had it. In the nose: butterscotch, cooked agave, butter and banana. In the mouth: vanilla, carmel and oak. The finish: flowers, butter, fruity spearmint with a long finish.
Aroma is vanilla combined with oak and flavors are vanilla with a hint of oak. All in all it’s a great flavor, one of my absolute favorites to sip with oranges and cinnamon.
This was a gift, like the agave taste so I’m bias when tasting tequilas that are finished in a cask for flavored. That said It’s very smooth and finish with a whisky taste
Earthy and peaty nose. What a unique flavor for tequila! It takes on more of the scotch than I would have expected. Smoky and full-bodied.
Tasted a little too much like a whiskey for me
Faint whiskey sent. Has a bit of a whiskey taste as well. A bit spicy not sweet until the finish. Not my favorite or even as good as I had hoped.
What a pleasant surprise, not expecting such a great finish and such a smooth sipper. Exceptionally balanced aromas and flavors between agave notes and whisky. This is the best Don Julio in the market by far. Great value at $65.
Interesting mix of flavors. I enjoy good scotch and whiskey as much as good tequila, so works for me. May not appeal to blanco and lighter repo fans.
What a wonderful mix of scotch whiskey and the perfect tequila. The nose of a well aged tequila with the slight smokey peat of a scotch. So well balanced you get the vanilla from agave and the sweet peat of scotch with every sip. My favorite of all time and I have tried so very many over the last 10 years here in America and in Mexico.
Interesting nose, some floral, not much agave, hints of vanilla; across the tongue, very slight burn, light agave, caramel; slight agave presence on the back of the palette, leaving notes of vanilla; with the Don Julio brand strength and integrity, this is a good deal at the retail I paid, $60.00, USD.
Moderate scotch on the nose. Incredibly smooth, definitely an easy sipper. Big entry with vanilla and fruity undertones followed by a long, satisfying finish with a peatiness imparted by the scotch that does not overpower the cooked agave. The oak is balanced fairly well with the vanilla as well. This reposado has a surprising show of the scotch notes, given the resting time. Will most likely be finishing this bottle— it is definitely an interesting tequila.
To start off , I usually drink anejo's and extra anejo's , for a reposado this is a nice sipping tequila , I was intriqued with it being aged in Buchanan wiskey barrels , very smooth , not much bite , nice finish , notes of vinella and fruit with a hint of barrel and wiskey flavors .
