Nose: agave raw / earth / mineral/ pear / citrus / anise Taste: sweet agave cooked / pepper / vanilla/ banana/ earth / mineral / lime / anise / tea / cream soda Finish: watey wet cool water effect / lingering pepper, agave , and vanilla. Nice smooth finish that leaves a fresh mint taste. This blanco is from Villa Lobos…a brand that died. It’s very good and begs the question….why did it die?

This tequila has a pretty good nose. Has an agave nose minerality, and pepper. It has some citrus and cinnamon with alcohol vapor The taste has similar notes. Agave and citrus. It does pepper that is a little too prominent.

Nice fruit flavors, but with some overall bitterness. A decent sipper though

Aroma is somewhat discreet but sweet fruit and cooked agave notes show through. Sweetness follows through in flavor with fruits - pineapple, citrus - and cooked agave prominent. A bit of heat at the end but not much. Medium finish with a bit of almond is slightly disappointing but I can’t explain exactly why. March tequila tasting - blancos, 03-24-2022

Great flavors of great agave, cinnamon, loads of black pepper, minerality, citrus (mills grapefruit), root vegetable. Soft initially on the pallets then punches you with flavor with a short to medium finish

This is just amazing juice, exactly what I want a Blanco to taste like. Agave forward from the start, stays consistent throughout.

Lot: VLB-005 01/12/2016 (Am) 40% ABV Slightly warming initial nasal impact. Aroma is a nice combination of sweet cooked agave and earthy mineral at first. Nose at the top of the glass opens to clementine. Initial mouth feel is oily with sufficient alcohol. The sweet cooked agave holds up on the flavor with fennel backing it up, especially present on the retro nasal (although based on looking at other reviews, I'm in the minority on this - it's there for me). Earth, minerals, cinnamon, pepper. The clementine (present in the nose) creeps in on the flavor as it opens up. Is this the red headed stepchild of NOM 1139? It is a great (ok, well above average) blanco - not that Carlos Camarena would make a bad blanco. Close to Tapatio, but the fennel note sets this apart from it. is it from the deep well water? It's more from the genius of Carlos Camarena. This bottle is toast tonight. It's from 2016, it owes me nothing, but sad to see it go. A definite buy. Simple but great sipper. Salud to The Man for another tequila that sets the bar

Mild aroma with a hint of floralness. Good balanced flavor with what I can describe as rounded pleasant bitterness. Getting mint, citrus, white pepper, a little grass and sparkling minerality. Finish could be better and longer. Bottled 12/01/16 - Excellent touch of the history in the mini booklet. | After bottle sat opened, flavor changed to more vegetal with some nuttiness and longer finish.

40% abv. LOT VLB-004, bottled on 16/07/2015, tasted on 10-16-23. Aroma: almost intense sweet cooked agave! Resinous sweetness, slightly earthy, light acidity, light black pepper, aromas are quite expressive! Palate: confirms aromas perceived, agave sweetness is pure & intense! Good sweet sour and acidic balance. Finish is medium to long, sweet cooked agave with earthy and acidic notes persist.

Bottled May 28 2022 Nose: Agave, citrus, minerals, spices and herbs. Flavor: Big flavor. Medium viscosity. Very soft w nuanced complexity. Lemony citrus balanced out by herbaceous mint, clove/cinnamon, fresh cedar, subtle green olive and cooked agave. Medium-long finish. More like Ocho’s stocky country cousin than Tapatio sophisticated sister. La Alteña does it again. Very unique and lovely. $55

light nose, hints of ethanol, agave tones, very delicate floral and light citrus.and cinnamon on the palate you get a nice roasted agave with alot of minerals and vanilla with lemon/orange creamy, with a nice oily mouth cover. light spice and decent heat. finish is also very smooth and silky. beautiful sipper. with lingering minerals..not very complex but straightforward easy to drink. nice legs. very well done.
