Old bottle from before 2008. Quite a bit of Bourbon barrel influence on this with caramel, oak tannin, charred wood, and a seemingly natural sweetness from the agave and aging. A thinnish mouth feel which is good as it says no manipulation. Falls down on the finish for me which is short and not complex at all. 12 or 13 years ago the bottle itself must have appealed to me in the auction listing. This is actually the heavier 800ml MX bottle with shot top, but it's all labeled in English for export. This is interesting certainly in being able to compare to the current products but I don't have any on hand. The one thing I can say is that this very emblematic of the first waves of XA that flooded the premium and ultra premium categories soon after the XA category was created in 2006.

Cognac all day, it’s good but not scratching my tequila itch. There is a growing lane for products like this, I see a lot of selling potential.

Ultra sweet - not good - lost all taste of tequila - not sure how true tequila drinkers like this because I don’t get it with this one

Tasted this at the distillery. Overpoweringly sweet. So much so that I couldn’t detect the agave. It was a good “spirit,” and their heart is in the right place, but the sweetness is too much for my palate.

Wonderful aromas, just too sweet on the palate for my preference.

This reminds me a bit of Paradiso on the nose. It has a lot of wood/oak but also get almond and caramel. The flavor is VERY sweet. Initially, I get honey and then a bit of the oak and then it finishes with some spice. I wasn't sure if I liked it on first taste. It was almost overpowering. But, the more I tasted the more notes and complex it became. Truly, a very unique tequila that I'm not sure I have had anything else like it.

Initial aroma of cut wood that evolves to show strong, sweet notes of chocolate and caramel. Wow, sweetness of flavor that could practically be mistaken for maple syrup except for slight cinnamon flavor at the end that saves this from being too sweet. Relatively short finish with just a bit of lingering sweetness.

I know this has additives, but it was one of the first tequilas I started trying! Not bad if you’re just looking for a “smooth” tequila

this is terrible and overly sweet. no agave flavor. tastes like straight additives. I wish I could get my money back from this one! don't buy unless you like maple syrup and chemical flavor!!!!

It’s a good extra Anejo, a lot more sweeter than the reposado and Anejo. Don’t think it’s additive free. It’s nice for sipping and enjoying with friends. I like sweet stuff, so I’ll give it another go.

Smooth caramel and vanilla taste with a long finish. Great for the individual who looks for a single sweet sipper, but I don’t know how anyone could drink more than one. Too sweet for my taste.

This XA is too sweet for me. I could taste the additives but couldn’t place them. The feel and taste are like syrup to me. It was undrinkable until I added some ice, and then, just slightly drinkable. I had to add a little bourbon to enjoy it just a little. My 80 year-old mother loved it so she got the bottle.
