Lot 12 | Lote 115 in Mexico. Still one of the best all-around tequilas. Fun to find the label Los Abuelos.

Lot 81-R. Light amber color in the glass with oily legs. Aroma of cooked agave, vanilla and citrus. Flavor of cooked agave and black pepper. Long, pleasant finish.

Lote 72R bought at the distillery in December 2019. Just opened this at home. Super delicious. Aroma is great: agave and cinnamon jump out with vanilla notes as well. Taste is where this shines: cooked agave, brown sugar, cinnamon wow! The finish is long and smooth.

Lote 65 - R. Bought from Guillermo’s sister at the Museum. I have to put this up there with my all time favorite repos. Agave forward and just the right amount of natural sweetness of caramel and vanilla. This is what traditional methods will get you. Just amazing.

Los Abuelos Reposado : Lot 55-R. (Fortaleza) I bought this bottle while visiting the distillery in Tequila, Mexico. It’s a beautiful property but this is a tequila review so here I go. On the nose I detect a lot of cooked agave, minerals / vegetal and bright citrus notes. The taste is slightly sweet which comes from the used whiskey barrels it’s aged in. The cooked agave is dominant and there are several citrus notes. The finish is long and very smooth. This tequila is well worth the price and perfect to sip on. FYI: This tequila is branded as Fortaleza in the US.

Poured for Lobster Bus 12, I did not get a peek at the Lote # but it was a recent shipment of the latest reposado production.

Lot 12 | Lot 39. Floral nose with baked agave, fruit and cheese. Palate of nuts, spices, agave, pepper and zing. Complex, balanced and excellent.

Lot 07 | Butter, piloncillo and maraschino cherry finish with beautiful oiliness. Omg. So good.

Wow. Lot 7, incredible.

Lote 125-R, tasted on 9-16-24. Color: yellow to almost light yellow. Aroma: cooked agave with a hint of sweetness, light acidity, hint of citrus, hint of earthiness, light green vegetal notes, light wood notes that become more intense as time goes by. After 15 minutes in the glass a natural agave fiber and hay aroma emerges, quite common for recent Fortaleza’s. Hint of pineapple. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, light vanilla, good sweet and sour balance, wood note is also quite noticeable on the palate, slightly dominating. Finish is medium to long, light cooked agave with a hint of sweetness, light acidity, light green vegetal notes with slightly dominating wood note persists.

Lot 12 | Lote 98-R purchased noviembre 2021 y Lote 121-R purchased abril 2024 at destilería Fortaleza, Tequila, JAL. World-class tequila! Not hype. Los Abuelos Reposado (Fortaleza) is the standard by which all other reposados should be compared. Flavor, aroma and finish are incredible.

Lot 09 | Lots of minerality but very well balanced with a bit of sweetness. Great flavor and finish, good sip and an amazing top shelf margarita. If you can find it at msrp its an amazing value.

Very smooth but the after taste has a good kick.

Lot: 98R Aroma: perfect fills me with happiness Notes: Taste fabulous, cooked agave, pepper, hint of citrus. Excellent tequila for me. Finish: smooth, easy finish, stays light on the palette

One of my favorites

Lote 44-R Light agave on the nose. Very clean! Butter, vanilla, cooked agave, vegetal and pepper on the palate. Nice mouth feel very soft. Hard for me to get but would recommend.

An exceptional “go-to” tequila for the money. Can have a slightly bitter finish, but a solid contender.

Lot 07 | Spectacular reposado! Nose, taste and finish are full of cooked agave and natural sweetness.
