Cascahuim blanco Nose: agave pepper anise Palate: sweet agave Finish drops off kinda quickly
Solid affordable sipper with light mint aroma, sweet agave flavor, spices and a little jalapeño pepper in the finish.
On the nose, Immediately grassy, herbal notes and cooked agave. Something like underripe banana. Pepper and citrus, orange peel. On the palate, beautiful cooked agave, almost a touch of vanilla but not quite. Definitely getting the pepper and the citrus. A very subdued natural sweetness, and very oily and full bodied. Solid sipping blanco. Didn’t blow my mind by any means, but also nothing really going against it either.
Lots of agave on the nose and upon entry. Some mint with a touch of grassy sweetness. Possibly the best blanco for under 25 bucks.
Agave, grass, pepper, melon, herbs… there’s a lot going on for this quality affordable tequila. Some good pop from the pepper, long finish. The more I drink, the more I like.
amazing bargain for this entry level Cascahuin. (8 points on the score for the value rating). aroma is agave, citrus and pepper. flavor opens with the agave at the front then presents banana, citrus (mostly grapefruit) and cinnamon. some brine and lactic on the finish. quite near the benchmark for blanco's at $30 and under
agave through and through. One of the best out there for the price point.
Great value, from one of the best tequila houses out there. This being their entry level blanco. Great for cocktails or by itself. Shows great agave flavors, very balanced
Clean fresh agave and citrus (lime). Lovely nose. A lot of agave up front, slightly vegetal and a touch of sweet. The finish is nice, slightly thin but peppery.
Herbal, minerals, agave, spices, nutmeg and tropical fruits like papaya and peach, almond, peanuts, raisins, citrus orange, portería sapota (mamey) are in the aroma. The palate has banana, Mamey, sweet cooked agave, white pepper, spices, mint. Finish medium with lots of sweet agave and slight spicy.
Aroma : Agave with some baking spices and floral notes. Light fruits. Taste : Sweet cooked agave and vanilla with grass, mint, light spices and pepper. Nice oily texture. Finish : Medium length with light alcohol, and prolongs the floral notes prominent on the nose and initial taste. Budget priced tequila, but sips like a high end bottle. I'm curious how the minty quality here translates to the Reposado and Añejo, but neither of those were on Old Town Tequila where I got this. I'll have to look around.
Excellent, excellent tequila. Very affordable whether you’re getting it in the States($30) or in Mexico($260 pesos in January 2020, in Jalisco). Enjoyable, short finish. Super flavorful and vegetal, extremely agave forward stuff. Good enough to sip neat. Blows PLENTY of other bigger names out the water at a fraction of the cost. Just a good tequila made the right way, I trust anything from this NOM.
As good as it gets, really. Asparagus, cooked agave, sweet potato (cooked), unripe banana, vegetables and alcohol (bottom of the aroma column) all in the nose. This elixir coats the mouth with a nice viscosity and the tears don’t break. I love this stuff.
Absolutely no flaws that stick out....this is amazing from start to finish. Makes me wonder why every brand can’t perform at this level for this price point?!? Recommend stocking up.
Baked agave, grass, lemon zest
Nose starts out with minerals, baked agave, tropical fruits and lively spices. Floral with some nutmeg... liking the nose. Flavors rolling in of mint, sweet agave, vanilla and light pepper. Nice mouth feel. Balanced solid finish. Leaves a soft feeling finish in my mouth.
Tasted from a taller bottle that I just brought back from Jalisco. At 38% ABV this hand crafted Blanco has a great agave presence both on the nose and in the mouth. Caramelized sugar sweetness presents on the initial sip that gives no taste of being anything other than natural. A moderate and slightly spicy finish rounds out an excellent offering from El Arenal.
On the nose: Agave, soft sweetness, pepper and citrus. On the palate: Agave, citrus, pepper. As authentic as the word. Great price. Love this stuff
I went out looking for this tequila. It was the last bottle in the store, so an easy decision to buy even though I had to pay full price. Aroma: definite cooked agave aroma; somewhat vegetal. Fantastic! Taste: peppery on the tongue; sweetness was evident but subdued; definite cooked agave flavor. Very full bodied flavor. Awesome! Finish: exceptionally nice, full mouth feel. Wonderful aftertaste that lingers and then slowly fades away. Yes, I would buy again. Yes, I would definitely recommend to a friend. And yes exceptional value at CAD70 for a 750ml bottle.
Cascahuin Blanco - Tasting Notes NOM 1123 Nose * Cooked agave * Mineral * Light brine * Masa Taste * Smokey * Sweet agave pulp Finish * Short * Salt * Rainwater * Jalapeño Verdict: * It’s hard to describe this tequila with one-word descriptors because they don’t do it justice. Yes, it’s all the things above, but it is an experience. The nose has a warm masa and cooked agave aroma. Taste is lush agave with a bit of smoke/oak. Finish is short but not unintentional. It’s an elegant, sweet, and bright finish. Definitely for the more intermediate/advanced taster, but also fun for everyone.
Lote 1047 2019 I smell a fruit basket, with Spicy pepper..green jalapeño, nice roasted agave minerals with olives Long enjoyable finish . Astringent , citrus , sweet
LOT: 420 (11/09/23) View: Completely transparent, good tear adhesion. Freshly served; Aroma: lactic, herbal, fresh, lemony citrus, cooked agave, mineral. Flavor: lactic, lemony citrus, mineral, light, fresh. Aftertaste: citrus, astringent and a little black pepper. The lemon sensation lasts quite a while. I let it oxygenate for 15 minutes to allow it to open. Aroma: it evolved towards herbal and I distinguish a slight profile of green olive, lactic, mineral, copper, citrus. Taste: I now also very clearly distinguish the green olive, herbal and mineral. Great deal, can’t get much better for the price.
This brand has one of the best aromas, with a great balance of minerality and green grassy agave flavors. The palate includes this plus some sweet cooked agave and a nice pepper spice.
Aromas: cooked agave, mineral, cinnamon hint, citrus, pepper, grass, vegetal, banana slight, floral, slight butter aromas, pineapple hint Palate: cooked agave, pepper, citrus, earthy, mineral, vegetal, slight cinnamon , grass A well made blanco nice and balanced the classic Cascahuin flavors for the price can’t go wrong a good supper and mixer
Lou gives some mighty high praise for this affordable blanco tequila.
