Nose: vanilla/ caramel/ agave / light fruitiness/ bell pepper / black tea / herbal/ tobacco:/ oak / Taste: vanilla / agave / pepper/ (last 3 nearly simultaneous) / cinnamon/ hint of lime / spearmint/ tea / molasses/ hazelnut / Finish: clean watery freshness / lingering mint-cinnamon-pepper / good minty taste on finish. This anejo is a good daily sipper that delivers for the budget. There’s no huge standout flavors, but what’s there is balanced and creates a good experience.

Like the rest of the ET line I like this one for the rustic way it is made and the flavor it delivers for the price. This Anejo is agave forward with the barrel imparting Vanilla, oak and caramel. Great flavor with much of the same tastes as you get on the nose. A bit of black pepper on the younger with a great finish.

*Batch-003, Bottled:2018* The aromatic profile is characterized by a pronounced presence of honey and oak. A delightful nuance reminiscent of cherry bourbon graces the olfactory experience, accompanied by subtle notes of light yeast, ethyl, and a vibrant interplay of lemon and orange citrus, heightened by floral undertones. The palate is treated to a symphony of flavors, notably the sweetness of Bourbon/Whiskey, the robust influence of oak, tropical fruit, plum, and the essence of cooked agave. A watery honey texture adds to the complexity, while a gentle peppery burn on the esophagus enhances the intricacy of the taste. Subtle faint brine, raspberry, light yeast funk, and orange citrus contribute to a multifaceted and delicious experience. The whiskey essence is a consistent thread from the beginning to the finish, revealing layers of cooked agave, minute brine, and pepper, all underpinned by minerality and a refreshing note of berry. The gradual fade brings forth light grassiness, concluding the tasting with a nuanced and satisfying flavor progression.

On the nose, Sweet agave, butter, oak and caramel. A fruity/floral note that is interesting. On the palate, lots of clean, sweet cooked agave, with butterscotch and cinnamon. Definitely getting that floral note, not as much oak as I’d expected. A little heat but not too much, very thick and full bodied, the flavors are just very present, if that makes sense. Very good. For $45 at Total Wine in SoCal, definitely worth grabbing.

Nice agave on the nose with barrel notes. Palate is full of agave with a little heat on the finish. Can’t go wrong with 1139 offerings.

oak hit first on the nose, followed by agave, vanilla and some spice. oak lingers in the nostrils. agave forward, vanilla touched with caramel and wood on flavor with some citrus in background. baking spices hold on the finish. really nice anejo for just under $60

Lots of agave on the nose, some oak and vanilla. Flavor is light for an Anejo with cooked agave front and center as you’d expect from a Carlos Camarena tequila. A little oak and butter with some citrus toward the back end. Finish is okay but not long. Nice Anejo that’s certainly true to the agave which is there throughout. I expected a little more full flavor and complexity from this tequila, especially given how amazing the blanco and repo are.

Knowing exactly where an Anejo fits in and not expecting to be spoiled as if it were an EA but definitely expecting more from it than a REP, this one fits exactly into its catagory and pigeon hole. Aroma is wood heavy then a backbone of light vanilla and light agave. More wood forward in aroma than expected but not over oakey in flavor. Flavor is light but aggressive and nuanced with a good balance. Been disappointed by Anejos that fall short and fit better into reposado catagory but this is not one of those. Firmly holds its place in all catagories. Well done, well priced, and well loved.

An Añejo that’s very light in color, due to Carlos Camarena’s preference with aging his tequilas. They use very worn American oak barrels and age for the minimum about of time legally allowed by the CRT. For that reason you still get agave with this Añejo and even the Extra Añejo(from what I’ve been told). A pretty good sipper without overpowering wood/oak notes or excessive vanilla/caramel notes. A well made agave oriented Añejo that won’t break the bank.

Great value for an Anejo aged 2 plus years. Sweet, vanilla, balanced acidity with slight heat on the finish.

Aroma : Light cooked agave and oak with caramel and some vanilla, and barrel spice. Taste : Medium bodied and light oils with with the same light amount of agave and oak. Caramel and vanilla here, as well as some cinnamon. This is light and somewhat sweet in flavor. Finish: Medium length finish with stronger emphasis on caramel and cinnamon notes.

Not a huge departure from the repo, it’s still very soft and goes down without and fight. The extra time in barrel has improved and lengthened the finish, it’s my favourite part.

I’m drinking this not long after tasting the white label añejo version..... I realize this is going to be a tough act to follow. Nice round and balanced flavors. Great reverence is shown to the agave in the barrel aging. Nice. A great tequila but not the white label...

the aroma is clean and sweet, with light pepper, citrus and honey. front is nearly nonexistent, then after a few seconds she kicks in with white pepper, agave, and small herbs. the end is quicker than the beginning. easy slide from pepper and citrus with a little that lingers in the throat.

The aroma is interesting. I get butterscotch but also something slightly metallic. The flavor is super smooth and the aroma definitely comes through. The finish is nice and smooth. A good Anejo for the end of the night.

Review #102 - El Tesoro de Don Felipe Tequila Anejo

This is one of the first premium tequilas that I ever bought and sipped. It's a good solid tequila with no special tastes that make it unique.
