Vessel: HP CT Jarrito Nose: Agave, Artichoke, Brine Citrus, Grass, Mint Palate: Pepper, Minerality, Grass Finish: Grass, Grapefruit, Anise It's beyond me why it's taken me so long to review this. This particular HP seemed to raise the already incredbly high bar for me as far as 1579 HPs go, just edging out the Volans SS and basically tying with the Don Vicente Fuerte that came out around the same time. This was a bit less sweet and more vegetal than the Don Vicente Fuerte. I enjoy both equally depending on the mood that I'm in. 2024 was such a fantastic year for Anejos!
visual: slight stray color aroma: musty, cinnamon, orchard fruit, honey, cooked agave mouthfeel: buttery with sufficient alcohol flavor: cooked agave, cinnamon, honey, orchard fruit preserves, white pepper finish: med finish with honey and the orchard fruit preserves lingering
On the nose it’s floral and fruity with a high proof punch. Taste starts very mineral and follows with that high sugar agave sweetness and some pepper. Another high proof powerhouse out of 1579! What sets it apart is the 8-year old agave grown at 7,200 feet on brand owner Luis Torres’ private estate harvested with an astonishing 45 brix high sugar content.
This is a really great introduction to what General Gorostieta tequila and El Pandillo can do together. Amazing flavor. This first batch used agaves from brand owners hacienda in Arandas.
