Love this special release. Although it definitely has astrong whiskey overtones, the cooked agave, and spices linger on you palate.
Big time Ocho fan and big time Old Fitzgerald fan! Love this one and think it’s a great bottle for fans of both. Ocho to me is always very delicate with barrel aging, this one follows that format but also stands out.
An excellent agave forward anejo. A stark difference between this anejo and the other two I tasted in the flight(Fortaleza & Volans). Far less barrel influence, and the color could easily pass for a Reposado. Cooked agave being the driving note here along with citrus rind, herbs, and flowers. Subtle barrel notes like vanilla and caramel, but the distillate is the star of the show.
Aroma: sweet cooked agave, sweet pineapple, earthiness, citrus, black pepper, red peppers, green peppers, cucumbers, white onions. Palate: sweet agave, black pepper, calamansi, rain water. Finish: medium, sweet and peppery agave.
