Mexican 38% abv. versión, LOTE B01/24, bottled on 2-22-24, tasted on 7-27-24. Aroma: cooked agave with a hint of sweetness, earthy, hint of dirt, hint of green pickles, light acidity, hint of jalapeño chile spiciness which are comparable characteristics to the salmiana agave. I noticed that this tequila is produced at the same distillery as Criollo from Calle 23, and it has some slight similarities: light sourness, light resinous sweetness, light white floral aroma and a hint of sprite aroma and sensation with a light minty sensation. However, after 20 minutes in the glass a very light agave fiber aroma emerges, the aroma that I sometimes associate with additives. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, good sweet sour and citrus balance, on the palate this tequila is not overly sweet nor cloying. Earthy sensation with light fruitiness through my retronasal. Finish is medium to medium long, light cooked agave with a hint of sweetness, light sprite, light resinous sweetness, light fruitiness with earthy note persists. I will apply what a good friend of mine shared with me on this tequila, that assuming a tequila has very minuscule amount of additives, almost unnoticeable, does not worsen the tequila, and if we can’t even be certain if it does contain additives, we should give it the benefit of doubt!
